I have a 7-string guitar that currently has a black winter set in it. I can live with the neck pickup as I rarely use it but the bridge pickup I want to replace. Fixed bridge, basswood body, maple neck through and I tune down a step to A. I play through high gain amps (6505, Mark III and V) so I feel the pickup has a little too much output and the mids are a bit too forward to my ears. My go to pickup would be an SH5 but I want to try something different. I'm thinking about getting a 7 sting Jupiter pickup. Anyone here have experience with the 7 string version of the Jupiter?

Are you limiting yourself to Duncan’s? If so, the Custom would be a solid choice

What other choices should I consider if I venture out of the Ducan realm without spending a crazy amount of money? I always wanted to try a bare knuckle, but the prices are crazy.

Try the BKP Boot camp line. I think the Brute Force or even the True Grit could work well here. These pickups are still the same quality just no crazy options with the huge price tag.

Honestly I think the best option given what you said about your dislike for the BW would be the Duncan Custom 7-string pickup.
It's a medium output pickup but it's not weak in any way, really great full-bodied sounding pickup that's extremely well balanced.
Both the 6 and 7 string versions of the Custom I have found to be one of the best options for a balanced pickup that works exceptionally well with lower tunings. It's got a nice amount of midrange without it being anywhere near as boosted as the Black Winter or Nazgul, etc.
And very reasonable price-wise, which is nice.
I've got the Duncan Custom in an Ibanez AZ seven string guitar with a basswood body right now actually and it's working out exceptionally well.

I like your thoughts everyone! Why try something different when I like something that works for me! I think you all convinced me to just get another custom.
