Nice vídeos but I would appreciate it more if it shows the amplifiers specs as the knobs functions, MIDI, loop...
Since some of them has clean channel why not play thru them too and not just the Chugga Chugga?

We don't use clean channels here. Lol. The rest of the stuff you can Google. From people I know in real life who have gone to NAMM say its run and gun.

I don't get the who cares about cleans??? Cleans are really important to me, i need one and will not buy an amp that does not do cleans. Of course this is my criteria for my tastes, and will vary for everybody. If the amp does not have a clean, well then fine, no problem. But if the amp has a dedicated clean channel, well it better deliver cause it is on there, so i paid for it and want to use it.

Maybe i am the only one thinking this but i find the clean needs to be tested out to see the headroom, glassyness, bloom, clarity, spark, etc...

Love the demos anyway man, very cool.

Thanks man. I get what you’re saying. Some of the amps don’t have a clean and honestly, I NEVER use the clean channel on my amps. It’s weird but I have really never played clean in a gigging environment. I do agree if an amp has a clean channel then it should be good.

I used to own a Driftwood Purple Nightmare. Honestly, I thought it was just ok to decent sounding and it got completely smoked by things like my iic+, modded Marshall’s and Wizard. It sounded polite and restrained in comparison to those amps and not as big sounding. I can see though it recording well since it had a pretty balanced voicing from what I remember, but I don’t think it would hold up too well next to your amps. I can guarantee you that your wizards will sound way bigger, more raw and move lots more air

My friend has an Omega Obsidian, so I’ve tried that a bunch of times, but haven’t tried the other one from that video. I thought it was a very nice amp overall, especially in its range price range, but again my iic+ and 2 Cameron modded Marshall’s were at least 2 leagues above it when compared side by side. It again sounded filtered/sterile in comparison, not as big/wide, lively, raw or growly/pissed as my amps in comparison. It was tight for sure, but there are tighter amps out there still. I think guys who like the Fryette stuff may like it a lot because it has also a tight and dry thing going on and some similarities in feel, but for me it was a pass, too sterile/filtered, kinda like having a juice from concentrate rather than fresh squeezed. Just my 2 cents though, not trying to be a party pooper or kill the hype, just my opinion. Others may not agree, but I think side by side comparisons can reveal a lot and imo are more telling than just hearing an amp sound great in isolation

The amps from NAMM I’m curious about are the Friedman Jake E Lee and Fortin’s, but my expectation is still that I still won’t like them as much as my all time favorite high gainers. It’s nice to finally see a Friedman that could have that more upper middy Marshall quality

The Dover sounded great in those clips! To my ears it sounded more lively/real/upfront and just better imo than the Fortin, Driftwood, and Omega clips. Very curious to check em out now. Excellent job on all the demos as the others already mentioned!

Then why do manufacturers put clean channels on their amps? To please the masses? If it is there, lets make it the best we can. A multi channel amp is there to be used as a multi channel amp no? I know i do use them with all the channels.

In the music i play, metal, there is always a clran passage here and there, i aint gonna be hauling a multiple amp rig for these cleans here and there. So having a dedicated clean clean is really important to me.

Yeah I think it's important for a lot of high-gain guys to be able to switch quickly to a clean sound and back again. But generally for that type of music, the tone of the clean isn't terribly important IMHO. These bands tend to lay on the delay and reverb etc. and the dynamics of the clean aren't particularly shining through, so just any generic clean preamp will get it done. Though maybe if the clean actually sounded good enough on its own, I suppose maybe the bands wouldn't layer on the effects etc.

I laugh but in reality, I enjoy/need cleans. But I have a couple of amps with amazing cleans and hi gain, so at this point, if a new amp has an amazing hi gain, all I need is a serviceable clean if at all. In fact, not at all. Any amp I buy is likely to be a home amp as my live rig is set. So clean priority is real low....unless I'm looking for exactly that in a Fender or /13.

I agree about the Driftwood. I just sold mine that I had for only a short time due to getting a Gower Killer Kali. The Driftwood sounded like a toy in comparison. I also recently got a Mark iii blue stripe and that thing just destroys any newer amp I’ve owned. I really wanted to like my Driftwood, but it just couldn’t hang with the other amps I have, so I sent it packing.

The only boutique builder I’m interested in now is KSR. They seem to be the real deal.

Also, why is the new Fortin stuff so much cheaper now?

I am doing some vids for my Gemini. The amp is killer. I think Mike has likely worked out a better production deal for some of the newer stuff. And no, it's not going to be made in China as best I can tell. At the end of the day, people need to be competitive even if priced on the higher side of things.
