As usual, trying to cop early ZZTOP tone. I just built the Sho-Sound version of the Jordan Bosstone. Made in Nashville version.

This is as close as I've ever gotten. Let me know what you think, of the tone that is, I know I should learn the songs better but I'm too excited about the tone.

I just recorded a bunch of clips to get an idea of how close I am. This pedal is great. Between the amp settings, Les Paul controls and pedal controls, I really feel like I can get all of the early BFG tones. You'll see me reach back with my pick hand to tweak the knobs.

It's still on a bread board to tweak as needed. I originally had monster radio station interference but was able to add a 150 Ohm resistor between the Attack pot and the input cap and a 500pF cap from Q1 base to emitter and it got rid of it without changing the tone. Now I just have an annoying buzz that is pretty loud, but I'm hoping it might go away or lessen once I put this in a pedal enclosure.

Dont forget to buy yourself a set of Pearly Gate pickups...

Sounds pretty close. I love that album ha. My band used to play Bedroom Thang way back in the day. Love me some early ZZ Top.

I have a PG in the bridge position, I need to get one for the neck position.

What I really need is some Gibson Historic 500kA pots that have just about the same taper as BG's 59 LP. After spending time rolling the volume and tone pots up and down finding the tones it became very clear that the taper on my 94 LP is not cutting it. I'll bet with the GH pots I find the sweet spots for the tones a LOT easier.

Thanks, parts are on the way to build this into pedal, a hopefully lose that buzz/noise.

That is a worthy tone to chase down. I personally would be content with a good plexi marshall circuit and some Fender Tweed's and Brown's. I hear you on the volume taper. So many guitars have poor taper or too much treble loss. The right pots make all the difference in the world. Usually have good luck in my Gibbo's with CTS 500's.
