I know most will have a different opinion but man I always hated dianno in maiden. Yes there are a lot of great songs but man his voice just kills it for me

The absolute BEST Iron Maiden lineup! Thanks for posting.

Very cool!
What's your favorite, Iron Maiden or Killers album?
I prefer the first one!
Number of the best is my overall favorite Maiden album!

I concure, Dianno wasn't polished and seemed to have to fight for it. In his case it just added to the raw agression.

Sorry. Wrong answer. But thanks for playing!  Bruce has influenced soo many metal vocalists. Its simply no contest. But all IMO...Maiden rules!

Great stuff!!!

I loved the DiAnno era. Especially KILLERS. For me, it's right up there with Number of the Beast and Piece of Mind.

I don't see any reason to have to pick. I love Killers and I love Number of the Beast. I'm glad I can have both. D'ianno was a great fit for clubs and small theatres. Dickinson is the Arena.

couldn't agree more!

Besides Sabbath who imo are the all time best ever metal band, Maiden, especially this era, just kills anything then and now.

My opinion, but Maiden to me were always the classic example of what a true heavy metal band should be. I love the Bruce years, but this is simply the best.

 :worship:

He gave them a different edge. IM 1 and killers are two of my all time fav metal records.
I have been a maiden fan since 1979 and at first when he was out i was disappointed then i heard
bruce on NOTB and was like Ok they got a much better singer so i can adjust :D
I do not dislike di'anno but they would not have had the range/versitility they have now with bruce.

Bruce is clearly the better singer but Killers will always be my favorite Maiden album. I can remember my mom bringing the record home to me as I laid in bed sick with food poisoning in high school. Now thats taking care of your kids!

If you take into consideration where metal has gone mostly vocally, you can say Dianno was ahead of his time.

I'll always be a bigger fan of Bruce, the guy is just the ultimate metal singer. I do love those first two albums though. They had a magic all their own. The raw sound, combined with a dynamic song writing style. Stuff like Strange World, Prodigal Son, Remember Tomorrow, and Purgatory are just so different from anything else that came after. The DiAnno years were awesome, and that video is a great testament to them.

what lyrics is he singing in Killers?
Supposedly, they were written backstage before the show

You can see this whole performance on "The History of Iron Maiden - Part 1: The Early Days". Pretty good documentary with 3 full concert films. Live at the Rainbow (December 1980), Beast of Hammersmith (March 1982), and Live in Dortmund (December 1983).

I love that DVD! I just watched the documentary piece a couple of weeks ago.

That is AWESOME! Instead... I would hide my Maiden, Priest, and anything else which could be considered "Satanic" because my mother would throw it out!!!
