there's an acoustic maker down your way that's supposed to make some killer stuff out of native tonewoods Nik....supposed to be pretty affordable. Aussie dollars convert like peso's to our dollar so it's like almost free....plus being from Australia they probably come triple masked and vaxed with a card as well.....:ROFLMAO:

Maton have always made great acoustics and basses IMHO; I used to live just up the road from the factory, but they're a tad expensive. I think you may be thinking of Cole Clark guitars?

An old buddy of mine was endorsed by and loved 'em.

A single cut with SS frets is on my to do list and honestly I need to be a conservative as possible after the 2 guitars I have on order.
 
If you pull the trigger let us know how it goes. Also I need to try some of Scottosan 's pickups. Everyone speaks highly of them
 
I'm probably going to get one of the tele's...I have a charvel desolation that I'm going to put scott's pups in. same thing when I get the tele.
 
They recently brought their prices up quite a bit on some models. The explorer model is 40 to 45% more than what it was 3 weeks ago. I have owned a few of the headless models. Not bad but some might prefer a pickup change.
 
Looking over the reviews on Amazon for that Explorer-1, you can see these guitars were selling for ~ $300 not very long ago.
 
We have a new rising brand in Europe, called JET guitars, you might check this one out. Roasted maple neck, very nice feel, cool colors, its better than anything in the price, including Harley Benton, priced around 190 USD, reviews are very positive. And you can get them in reputable stores, not an "Amazon" brand.

for some reason he reminds me of the singer/flautist for jethro tull....I kept waiting for the aqualung breakdown while he was playing....
