More EVH news. I have never heard of this magazine?

It's a cork sniffers paradise

Featured articles on scotch and cars occasionally along with extremely rare guitars. If you read it, some of the guys state they don't play them at all. Clothes make the fold too. Almost forgot that one.

Next time you go to Barnes and Noble/Borders, look in the magazine section. They're roughly $15 an issue.

Yeah it does.

Not to say the magazine isn't cool-it is. The only thing that gets me is the editorial style and articles seem to sell a lifestyle more than tell a story. The actual sections where there are a ton of cool one on one dealings with collectors pales to the number of ads and editorial bits that promote largely what I stated above.

You still get to see rare gear and it's pretty nice.

Cigar Aficionado was the first, since then there have been several copies. They all share the same format, a primary subject of interest then random GQ style hints/tips/articles on style, food, travel all for those with moderate to deep pockets.

You said what I was trying to say.

I'm guilty of picking 2 copies up of it in my life.

My fave mag for what it's worth is UK Guitarist. That mag has got terrific content and excellent reviews, writing, and the like. Not cheap either, but well worth it. Last Guitar Aficionado had John McEnroe on the cover with his '59 Lester left-hander.

The biggest article in it is about the wing-door Mercedes SLS

I've been checking my local books a million for the past 3 days to pick up a copy   As an EVH fanboi it's sort of an obligation :). As for the magazine itself, it is a bit snooty but Guitar World has become unreadable to me. GO is a little more appealing to an aging rocker like myself.

Well I might order the EVh one though so it will be my first. I cannot usallly afford the finer things in life except great beer and that is not too expensive!! Well apart from some gear here and there.

GW sucks!!! I was a huge fan of this magazine and a lifetime subscriber up until about 2 years ago.

I dig Guitar Techniques a lot. Another UK based mag with awesome reviews; great editorials and fantastic lessons. That one isn't cheap but the price is worth it.

I think the last Guitarist I read (could've been Guitarist) had Bernie Marsden on the cover with the Beast.

See!!

I do not buy very many guitar magazines these days. All of the gear reviews are so over biased.

Neither do I.

I'm a lot younger than you guys but I've grown tired of hearing about the same guys, same guitars etc. over and over. It's cool but there's not a ton of new Virtuosos out there now (well, in mainstream attention anyway) stepping up to the plate and getting proper coverage.

I mainly stick to GP and PG these days. I gave up on GW a long time ago as well.

Ya, GT is part of the same publishing house, and you're right, Marsden with the Beast (59 burst) was a few months ago. Best mag I've ever subscribed to. Had to put my scrip on hold as I won't be collecting this mag while away, but it's a seriously good read. Love the fact they have 13 issues a year too. Seemed just as I was getting to the scraps at the back, another one would be in my mail

Im by no means able to be a cork sniffer LOL, but i do have every issue of Guitar Aficionado i find it kind of interesting for older gear and to check out some of the collections

guys like john stamos and jeff bridges and john mcnroe looking stern on the cover with their axes

ads for rolex and day spas wearing cucumbers on your eyes and towels on your head

id also like to sit in a trust circle touching bare feet and gently humming kumbaya

Lol I was gonna say go to Barnes and Noble, we definitely sell em... To put it in perspective I think the last "cover girl" was John Stamos before this one with King Edward and his interesting stringed instrument...

Or just pick up the "Guitars of the Rich and Famous" right next to it with EVH's Frankie on the cover, either way seeing 2 magazines with some sort of Eddie Van Halen on the cover makes a certain kid working there very happy

By no means did I mean to sound like a jerk scoffing at that magazine. I just think it's marketed base is way off from what many typical guitarists dig.

But, it's nice for the kinds of guys that live that lifestyle or have multiple interests so I'll give it that.
