Edward Van Halen used a 70s Marshall slant 4x12 cabinet for Van Halen 1 what speakers

Marshall stop using metal handles around 1972-1973 and then whet to plastic it’s protea mid 70s cabinet

Food for thought.....

Why would a young, up and coming rock band, recording their first album have NEW gear? That would be expensive to them?
Eddie experimented with pickups, guitars that he built himself, and amps that came cheap to him.
No chance in hell he or the band bought NEW Marshall cabs to record. VHI was recorded in 77? Blackbacks came out in what, 76? Late 75?
Old beat up gear. 60s gear. Like JBLs. Cabs with the tolex torn off.
Just like in the pics.
This isn't hard.
 
from a practical point, slant because they’re playing live in the room and if you slip a can off one ear slightly while tracking you can hear your room sound easier with the speakers tilted at your head.
 
It’s definitely a slant cab in the photo,Van Halen 1 was recorded aug- sept of 1977 and released in march of 1978
