OK, here's the thing. I've decided to abandon the Axe Fx world and go back to building a big rack with lots of cool stuff. Mind you! I still love the Axe Fx for what it does and the price-benefit ratio is probably matchless. Anyways... Now, I need to get my hands in many units capable of giving me the effects I'm looking for. Let me tell you what ideas I have in mind already and do chime in with any suggestions you guys may think of. Thanks in advance.
It'll most probably end up being a mono rig with one one amp head covering all my clean and lead tone needs.
GATE
I'm very pleased with what the Decimator ProRack G does. Should I stick to that unit or are there other units worth trying out?
DELAY
I'm happily covered with my 2290.
COMPRESSOR
My Keeley Comp is doing a great job, so I don't see any need to go anywhere else with that.
CHORUS
I'm feeling very tempted to go back to a Tc Electronic 1210. But what about a Dyntronics Tri Stereo Chorus -as I've never tried one? Which of the 2 units is better? Is the Dyntronics like the 1210, in the sense that the 1210 is meant to be used in the loop of your amplifier? And last but not least, should I take into consideration other chorus units -whether in pedal or rack format?
FLANGER & PHASER
I really don't know what to do here. I've tried many different pedals and always end up going back to MXR EVH versions of both effects. Many other cools pedals I've tried end up making my rig more noisy, as they don't seem to take buffers that well.
PITCH
Probably, Eventide is the safest way to go, so I may end up going for a PitchFactor in the loop. Any other ideas?
I know that I'll be using 3 units in the loop of my amp at least. So, as I'm a pure tone freak, that means I'll need to buy a line mixer. The 2 options I'm considering are: RJM's Mini Line Mixer, CAE's Stereo Mini Mixer. My only experience with line mixers is Suhr's MiniMix 2, so I'm a bit at a loss here.
I guess I'm not forgetting anything for the time being, so hit me!!!
