My Egnater Tweaker Amp 15 (head) has died (for the third time) and needs a new power transformer. It was purchased used from Guitar Center and is not under warranty. This repair (assuming I take it in) would be the third and I have already spent over two-hundred dollars in repair.

Does to make sense for me to fix it again? What about ordering transformer from Mercery Magnetics? (Would that make it reliable?) In the event that I decide to purchase a new amp is my broken head worth anything?

Also the amp is for use in my home only and guitar is a hobby only. My other amp is a Yamaha THR 5.

Thanks

Bruce's USA gear is absolutely top-notch. The Chinese Egnater line, however, has been plagued with issues for years. Just go look at the 1st page of the Egnater forum and see what I mean.

Punt the amp. I wouldn't keep a Chinese Egnater amp if it was given to me.

Again, the USA stuff -- Awesome. Just making that part clear.

i always thought that tube blending could potentially be very problematic. if what you're putting in the power section doesn't balance for plate voltage across both sets of tubes? ouch! i'm sure there are other things regarding that configuration that i'm not aware of.. but at the very least the plate voltages have to be right.

Another case of bad Chinese stuff ruining a good name. My favorite guitars are USA, but the Chinese line ruined the reputation. The Chinese egnaters suck...

+1 for getting rid of it. Save some money and get something nice
