How does your twin Mesa rig sound ? I've never tried my triple rec with my Mark III blue stripe, but I bet it would sound pretty killer. Any tips or settings you'd like to share ? Speakers used with each ? Thanks

I can't speak for RJF, but I'm running something nearly identical, a Mesa/Boogie Mark III Coliseum Blue Stripe and a Mesa Dual Rectifier (used to be a Triple, but I liked the brighter tone of the Dual more). IMHO, it sounds phenomical, and that combination ended my tone search...for now...since 2009 or so.

As far as cabs go, ive found it makes a HUGE difference for me. I usually run the Mark through a Mesa metal grille 4x12 loaded with C90s and EVs. The Rectifier usually goes to a Mesa Oversized 4x12 loaded with Mesa branded V30s. If the Mark sounds to bright, I'll use the Mesa cab with V30s and it's good to go.

I mainly play originals, but when we jam on covers, there isn't a tone I can't dial in. The big difference is in the cleans. The Mark has really chimey cleans (at least how I run it), and my Recto sounds really round and full. I've played with the FX and I found that I liked running the Mark dry, and the Recto gets the majority of the FX run through the loop. Lately, I've been running the Wah/Volume/Rotovibe pedals out front of the Mark and it's worked pretty well, since it's not as "3 dimensional" as the tone from the Rectifiers.

If you want some sample settings, feel free to PM me and I'll send a few to you. Just let me know what amp you're playing through and what tone you are looking for!

Update:

I am scheduled to go and pick up a Lexicon MPX G2 tomorrow. Does anyone know if you can control a GCX switcher with the Lexicon R1 foot controller? I'm hoping I can do away with my ground control and use the R1 only, with it controlling the MPX and GCX switcher.

It's sounding pretty killer actually. I tried to run both heads into my oversize recto cab, using the stereo ports, but for some reason it sounded like total crap. Volume output actually went down when trying to run both heads vs. just one on. I think something must be up with the wiring in my recto cab.

I've been using it with my German built Diezel 412FL cabs. 6 V30's and 2 K100's. Sounds awesome, these are great cabs. My plan is to eventually find a pair of good condition old metal grille front loaded strait Mesa cabs. There was a guy here that had the perfect pair of them for sale in Chicago, but I am out of room until I get my studio built.

Nice, your building a studio, that's awesome man. You going to have a recording set up, or just for guitars and jamming?

OMG..... I guess I should have listened to you guys a little better. The Lexicon unit is not exactly simple to understand and program at all. This is going to take a while. I will say though, I set it up to use it's "screamer" effect up in front of the amps and set the perimeters up as a clean boost and it does mimic a tube screamer pretty accurately.

Oh it's a SUPER bitch to program ! But there's a free online software editor for it for smart phones, computers, laptops, or tablets...and there was a guy on here who said he was fluent in Lexicon...forget his name, but the search function would be your best friend here.

Find an intellifex they are awesome. I have the blackface, the online and the Ltd and they all sound killer. Some great presets available to. Real easy to use IMHO.

You are talking about plugging it into the computer and doing the editing? That is likely over my head. I'm a little overwhelmed with this unit at the moment. Hopefully I will have time next weekend to sit down and read the manual more and play with it.

I don't think I can control my GCX with the R1, at least with program changes, only CC messages, which I don't think will make it do what I want. I might just ditch the R1 and control everything with my Ground Control, pending I get the hang of the MPX layout.

Either that or just see if I can sell or trade it for a TC G force. I know the G Force is a little more complicated than a G major 2, but I should be able to adapt pretty easily since I'm pretty solid with the Gmajor2 layout.

Starting to get the hang of it. I think the manual could state a few things better, one of which is explaining in the beginning why they want you on patch 249 (out of 300) to get all the levels adjusted and what not. 249 is the test channel, then 250-300 are blanks for creating your own patch, with 245-248 being the jam man (recording looper) and 1-244 being factory patches. This thing is wild, you can do a LOT with this. I'm thinking this may be more than what I was looking for, and instead of closeting the R1 and trying to just use it as an mpx-1, I think I am going to sell or trade this system. It's an incredibly powerful combo, and someone else could benefit from this system, rather than me trying to use half of it.

The G Force is peaking my interest now.
