Hey there! Long post incoming.

Long time lurker, first time member and poster. This page has helped me make amp decisions before (such as the ED) and even recently with some pickup choices (Manlius all day!)

I'm part of the cult of Electra Dyne as of late March. This thing is definitely one of the best amps I've ever owned! I've got the heavy-ass 1x12 combo. I'm 6'2" with some meat on my bones and it's still a beast. Weight aside, I'm digging it.

I was living on the blue channel for a while and absolutely loved it. Switching between green and blue was great, but tricky to find the sweet spot. Now I love on the green channel. Living on the green channel has made me use dirt pedals, which I've always done, but I feel like I'm not making the most of a great amp but relying on them.

That said what shared settings do you find work well between blue and green? What are you using for dirt? I know the BB Preamp gets a lot of love, which has me interested in the Flux Drive. I love the brit sort of crunch the amp does on its own, but I don't love the higher gain settings. Something more in between liquid Boogie leads and chunky Hotrodded Darker JCM would be cool. I don't need it to djent, but getting into modern heavy territory when needed would be cool.

Those of you who are effects-heavy, are you using the effects loop, or going straight in? Any speaker or tube recommendations?

FWIW, here's a link to the style of music I write - this was tracked on a Budda Superdrive 30 and Mesa Mark V (hence I thought the Electra Dyne was a great idea)

Think bands like Thrice, Deftones, Brand New...I enjoy the 90s - grunge, emo/math, space rock. Take Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Sunny Day Real Estate, American Football, Hum, Shiner, put them all in a blender.

Can't really help you with settings but welcome to Rig-Talk. Good place to ask.

Played the amp briefly one day along with a bunch of other amps so I would say I have literally zero experience with it but I do remember walking away liking the amp and its simplicity. Did you have the Superdrive and Mark V prior to this (also have played these briefly)? Did you go with the ED to cop similar sounds and have a smaller footprint? C90 is a Black Shadow right?

Cool song you posted. Kinda reminds me of Staind. Good stuff. Far better than anything I could put together :)
This is more of a free bump.

Edit: Nvmd on the SD and the Mark V question. You already said that.

This is more of a free bump. Was that recorded with the SD and the Mark V?

Hey there!

I do dig the simplicity. I had the Budda two/three years back and sold it off before moving from PA to TX. Loved the gain tones. Cleans were good, not great. The Mark V was my engineer's amp at the studio. I basically used both to have a difference in tones. Not super similar. The Mark V is a fantastic amp, but had the complicated nature that used to keep me away from Boogies.

C90 is the Black Shadow, yep! This amp is by no means small. A 1x12, but a beefy one. Similar to a Shiva in that regard.

Thanks for listening to the music and the kind words! That indeed features both amps, and a few cool dirt pedals for the gainy tones.
