hey guys. At my local sam ash there has been this EV 4x12 cabinet with those Black Label society 12;s in it sitting there for over a year. Back then, they wanted 1600 ( !!!!!!!!!!!!!!) bucks for it. It is now at 795 out the door. The cabinet is pretty neat, has a plexiglass back to it. Has anyone ever tried these? I tried a boogie dual rec and a 5150 3 through it and     Sounded freakin HUGE! no flubbage whatsoever (big surprise). Just curious what the opinion is on these, and whats a good price.

Thanks!

EDIT: heres some pics I took today. I took the plunge, and bought it! 749 out the door! The cabinet construction is GREAT, i mean this thing is the most solid cab I've ever seen! There are caster mounts in the bottom of it as well. All around SOLID as hell cabinet!

Has anyone played one? I can't even tell what ohms the cabinet is? There are 4 8 ohm black label speakers in there, but I can't tell how it's wired?

A friend of mine had one a while ago I can't remember the ohms but I know it sounded killer!

Anymore info on these? What heads do these typically sound good or bad with?

I've never heard of these before. Quick, someone hip me to this jive before I rely on Google to teach me.

Honestly its hard to find info on them. I tried google, even tried electro voice website, can't find them. They are a regular 4x12, with a silver front, and a clear see thru plexi glass back ( VERY cool :D ). Try a google search on EV 4x12 EVN12L or something along those lines...There is a grand total of one picture I have found on the net, and it was when EV was giving away 2 of these for free in a contest on facebook or myspace.

Why so expensive? I get that they're rare..but really? That much?

I believe the speakers that are used in it (they are zakk wylde BLS "custom" speakers) are like 300 watts, and are quite expensive from what I understand. Hoping someone sees this that may have alittle more info. The cab wouldn't flub out for shit though. HUGE bass. i was using a boosted recto with my LP and BKP ceramic warpig in the bridge, and the cab was probably barely even getting touched with that kind of headroom in those speakers.

I'd get it. You can probably sell the speakers for more than the cabinet.

Cheers,

Greg

get it, but that thing must weigh like 130-140 lbs, at least, idk, those speakers are about 20 lbs each right? so dadamn, ya know??

i was going to say the same thing, it will be heavy as f*ck, make sure it has wheels and you have strong bandmates! :D

With the amount of head room this thing has w/ those speakers anything with a "brutal" tone would be killer. I'd imagine a 5150/6505, Herbert, Invader, Uberschall, etc would sound great thru this thing

I'd definitely buy that. The speakers alone would cost about $900. I have a Diezel rl4x12 with those speakers. Every head I've plugged into sounds really good. Awesome for brutal stuff. And yes, it's heavy. But it sounds so good I don't care about the weight.

Sounds swank, but a plexi glass back panel? how thick is that shit?

with the EV black labels you'd probably need at least 1/2" of plexi to not get punched around?

arent EV's in any form worth like 200 a peice?? sounds like a deal.

I thought so too guys, thanks :D. problem is, the cab doesn't have casters... That should be an easy fix though right? I can always put some on myself? Also, Again, I can't tell the ohmage of the cab. It has 4 EV 12L black label speakers (300 watts) and they are each 8 ohms. Is there anyway to tell by looking? The back is obviously see thru (very cool I might add :D ) But no one at the stores knows ( BIG SURPRISE!!!)\

EDIT: Again, I've tried searching nonstop for this thing on the net, and I can't for the life of me find ANYTHING on it. There is one picture on google.com images, but thats about it. They gave 2 of these things away last year (EV), but again, on their website there is nothing on them...I will call them and find out if no one knows, thanks :)

It's probably 8 ohms but you should definitely check with EV to be sure.

Anyone want to give opinions on good heavy duty casters? I assume this cab at one time had casters, but who knows...Should be easy to do, right?
