MURDERATOR
So after my recent emg fiasco I realized that almost every guitar that I’ve had emg’s installed in didn’t have the 25k pots that they recommend. When I did my Greco I installed all new emg pots with quick connections. So after repairing that studio yesterday, they don’t sound bad with standard pots. Now…..this is where it gets interesting. Even though I didn’t do an a/b comparison…. The Greco does sound better to me. The Gibson doesn’t have the “articulation “ that is present in the Greco. And plays better as well. Anybody notice anything similar?

EMG'S Require 25K pots. Using anything else just seems dumb. Rob Turner who designed EMG's & is the mastermind and owner has even said to use the 25K Pots.

I've never used anything but what they're designed for.

When I wired up my Epiphone with Blackouts I bought an EMG quick connect kit to use because I love it that much.

EMGs have a buffered low impedence output so the recommended 25k works well, where that value would load high-impedence passives too much.

You can use 500k pots with EMGs no problem they just won’t have a useful taper.

And in his case may have been the cause of his issues in his previous post.

I don’t like it. Not my thing at all. My Greco absolutely rips and kills but it is all emg…from the toggle to the output jack. If it was mine I would redo it but it’s not so…..even hooked up my 24v module and it still sucks. Well it doesn’t suck but it’s not the same as the Greco at all. And they are both all mahogany .
