narrowed it down to the output jack. Swapped the ground from the battery pack with the other white cable. Started working and cut out. Swapped them back and it worked fine.....until I put everything back together, flipped the guitar over and it cut out. WTF....:bash::doh::mad:

Had this problem before and more recently with some SD blackouts (not recommended, btw), it was a rogue thread from the ground wire touching the wrong contact on the output jack. Is it warbly or dead? Gotta be something loose or grounding out. Shake it around maybe? Haha.

almost no output. Just a whisper. I just installed an spc mod to it and everything was great. Then it quit. Thought it was batteries...nope. Wiring is a rat's nest though so I wouldn't be surprised if it's grounding out somewhere.

I had a cutting out issue with a guitar recently, the jack socket in the guitar came loose an rotated slightly, so after tightening it down, the tip contact was lightly touching the conductive paint inside the cavity (but only when a cable was inserted).

Sounds exactly like what was happening with me. Had to get a flashlight to see it. Could be at the battery box, too? GL! Sure it's probably an easy fix.

yeah it's all emg quick connects....and I just have everything stuffed in there...

Plug it in, flip it over, and just start wiggling shit until something happens. That'll find it.

you're grounding out somewhere ..... or losing connection .... drop that quick connect stuff and get you a soldering iron .

Had this problem with a guitar that had a side Jack and the Jack cavity was just small enough that the tabs were getting bent and contacting each other as the wired Jack assembly got pushed into the cavity. I like Griff’s idea here. Once you know you’ve got everything working outside the guitar, label the wires and tabs and just solder those 3 connections to give everything sone breathing room.

I’ve had this problem even with regular pickups and soldered connections when things just fit a little too tight and something metal just happens to contact to the cavity shielding. Sometimes the easiest thing to do is just figure out what is touching the shielding and cover the area with electrical tape. Then it doesn’t matter if it keeps touching it.

With EMG’s in tight spaces like my Explorer, I even wrap the battery in electrical tape because it has nowhere to go other than being squished down right on top of the pots.

Multi meter on the " continuity " setting ............... and a wiring schematic .... make sure whats touching what .... is suppose to .

Awesome to have you back Lisa. :cheers2:

Just sayin'. :dunno:

Shhh... peeps in OTC have been asking what the qualifications for mod status are brudda.
Thanks MM! ❤️Been a nice vacation/holiday!
Also, some people actually get paid to turn everything into shi... Y'all should run for office. :ROFLMAO:

Changed battery power supply and installed a new jack. Everything worked great till I flipped it to play and it cut out. Fuck

Grabbed my brother’s lp studio and plugged it in. Emg 81 and 85 btw. No output from the 81. Neck and middle are fine but the bridge is almost nothing. How the fuckin fuck is that possible?

Been working on it for about an hour now. Bridge pup has power but no output.
