Obviously we all know that, but when I was starting out EMGs were in the middle of an overswing/overcorrection to being "bland", "strident" or just "tinny"

Well, I'm using the 85 and two SAs and I love them very much.

I have to set the pickups much lower than I usually see EMGs set though. Have to make it play nice with the rest of my rig lmao

I'm not a fan of the 81, but I do like the 85 a lot. It sounds great with Marshall or Mesa amps. It's not for everyone, but I think it's one of the best active humbuckers to ever exist.

I love both the 81 and the 85

But it's the SA that has my heart. It's my favorite single coil sized pickup by a mile lol.

I've been wanting to try some EMGs since I saw a video where Zakk told of his first experience with them. This is not the same video but he is basically saying the same thing.. the original video was a better explanation though.

Yeah that story

His student showed up with a guitar with one, sounded like an invisible blanket came off.

The EMGs really sound clear. I can't say if they're bassier, more trebly or more middy... they're just clear IMO

This weird indie metal track is EMGs into a JCM 800 (although there is an ibanez digital flanger in there too).

I love the SA/SA/85 set! I miss those pickups. Dammit, now I've got make a set of those appear. Shit. LOL

thanks a lot.gif
