Lame.

Japanese Epiphones have the open book headstock and are what Gibson should be putting out.

Also, I don't know how this can be a Kirk Hammett signature guitar when the fucking thing is named after Peter Green (nevermind Les Paul himself).

Same reason they did a Gary Moore version Gibson

Am I the only one that doesn't get the Greeny "thing?" I mean, I understand the guitar's provenance, but so what? It was owned by a guy that got kicked out of one of the biggest bands of all time before they got big, then went to another guy who founded Thin Lizzy but then left after a very short stint and then was mainly a solo artist, and now it's owned by one of the biggest guitarists of all-time who never used Les Pauls during his most influential decades. There's many more LP's that have been on many more recordings that have sold many more records. It just seems like a ton of marketing hype ("hyping the hype?") over a guitar that, yes, is famous; but, I find it hard to believe that every Joe the Plumber out there is buying into that hype enough to warrant so many versions of this guitar. Just my two cents.
I think it is cool because it traveled between some famous guitarists and has a history but I've heard people say the out of phase thing sucks. Never tried myself.

This is nothing pricewise for Epi.

The limited to 1,965 guitars, Epiphone John Lennon 1965 Casino went for over $3K new. I sold mine for over $3K, but paid closer to $2K new. Mine was the original finish, others in the limited run were the stripped down "Revolution" model in natural. Not sure how many of each finish were made?

See but John's guitar was an Epiphone. Kirk's is an Epiphone that is supposed to be a Gibson.

Out of phase is complete garbage, trust me. I've tried the mod on a few guitars and never leave it. Absolutely horrible sounding. Was clearly a wiring mistake no one caught and he went with it. Those crazy thin, reedy sounds can CUT though boy.

I had that out-of-phase wiring in an old double cutaway Hamer. Grear guitar. That sound is good for blues, that's about it.

This is what I was gonna say. It's a blues thing and the broken radio tone is a great tone of it's own in the blues world. It would be pretty terrible for a rock sound though, lol.

I do think that is a great looking Epiphone. Every Epiphone Paul should have that headstock.

I'm with you but I feel that way about a lot of overly hyped guitars. What's worse are those people that don't even play guitar but hang them in their living rooms as "art". I suppose the EVH striped series and Frankie relic get abused like this the most. Oh well...

I'm a big fan of it BUT it makes your volume and tone controls super sensitive.

If you know how to dial it you can get really nice crisp rhythm tones, and awesome cocked wah. But if you nudge one pot a half cunt hair you'll go outta whack.

Oooh, it has a veneer top, as opposed to a real one. Just like Kirk’s new hairline.

I don't like the bright, even yellow finish - to me it doesn't look anything like Greeny, or even the completely faded unbursts.

Some of these might be great guitars, though Epiphones seem to vary more from one to another than Gibsons do.
Their build quality is pretty consistent but the wood in some of 'em can be a bit dodgy.
I don't expect that all of these will be glorious players.

That said, I applaud Epi's attempts to upgrade their brand in general. Just saying this model isn't for me.

It strikes me that this yellow is the color they should be using on their korina series, instead of the usual pale brown.
I'm glad to learn Gibson is allowing the correct headstock shape; perhaps also loosening up their policy on other cosmetic similarities.
Hopefully now Epi can start making korina Vees & Explorers that actually look like the real ones.
It's hard to pay attention to details when Chinese adolescents are making them for .04 cents an a hour, and can be blindfolded with dental floss.
