Eq Pedals

Using a Japanese boss 7 band, I like it, but Christ it’s noisy, I’d like to try the newer mxr 10 though

MXR 10 band in loop and I have no noise or tone suck issues with my signal chain. Also sometimes use VFE Standout up front.

At the moment, I'm using the Empress Para-EQ or the Mesa Boogie 5-Band. The graphic is easier to dial in quickly. The parametric takes more time to dial in, but is way more versatile.

I've also got a TC Electronic 2240 in one of my racks. Great unit, but discontinued and may be difficult to find, and it takes up 2 spaces in my rack. There's a single channel equivalent, the TC1140, that's only 1 space.

I'm not sure why I don't have a silver MXR, just haven't picked one up yet. I do have the Boss GE-6, GE-7, and GEB-7, and they are god at what they do, but are noisy. Finally, I have an old late 70s MXR 10-band pedal. It's definitely a character piece and has all the noise to go with it. Still very effective, and with a noise gate, any of the above would work just fine.

I am using a fish and chips eq but only with 1 amp.

The source audio programmable EQ is on my wish list.

Why is the Mesa so expensive for an EQ pedal? I love the way my EQ works on my JP-2C, but can't see spending that much for an eq pedal for my other amps is all.

For a while I used a Fish n Chips, and then later I used the 3 band EQ on the G-Major. A bit crude but I'm not sculpting a guitar tone, just doing a bit of a mid boost.

I have not played one , but the Free The Tone 10 band eq with presets looks great .

Whirlwind Perfect 10 out front and Mesa Boogie 5 band in the loop.

Don't really know... it's a good pedal, well built, quiet, works well... if I had to guess, I'd say it's because it says "Mesa" on it. :dunno:
