Here is a preset that I would use live for VH. Not exactly the "Brown" sound for sure but "my" tone with VH1 style FX. I really just wanted to show you guys the end of Eruption with that so cool delay effect Eddie had by using an old EC-80 Tape Delay unit. Forgive the playing :) It ain't pretty!

doesn't sound perfectly like Eds brown sound, but close enough for rock and roll. i dig it ,nice playin too

That D chord was surprisingly in perfect intonation, lol.

Mark, One time I had asked if you gig with the axe fx, do you still? What makes up your rig other than the axe fx?

Thanks Mark,

Thanks Mark,

I was gigging with the Ultra for over a year. Unfortunately I have not been gigging at all. I was supposed to go work down in California, so I sold my PA/Trailer rig...only to have my Visa denied. Well, now I'm still supposed to be down there and I should find out about my second Visa attempt this week sometime.

Awesome stuff Mark!
Thanks Carl!!! How are you liking the Axe2?

Mark

I know I can say this because I know it is an axe but I just am still not convinced! It does sound good though.. but there's always that compression or something that the axe does that I hear. I'm trying to like it honest! My favourite tones of yours are still through your amps ! :)

As a Subscriber to your videos....once again....love it!
I like the "heavier" tone....
Its still clean and full of crunch.....not over saturated like some really high gain stuff.
Sounds awesome!!

Pssst...just enter the country illegally; that's what everyone else does and the govt. doesn't seem to mind ;). All kidding aside, this kills me: you try to do the right thing and they deny it? Go figure.

Ya my first attempt I hired a lawyer that insisted I use a NFTA Work status to get The visa quickly. Bad advice and I got beat for over $3k. I was not a happy camper. I live in a border community since that happened each time I cross the border or fly to the USA I am taken in and get interrogated like a terrorist. I have stopped going. I literally live a few minutes from NY State. I'm as white and harmless as they come except I use too much gain. Lol.

This time we hired a lawyer from LA who seems more on the ball. I'll have an answer yah or nah this week supposedly.

haha cool. overall sound is really there, works great for the percussive thing (atomic punk?) I always figured it was the whammy bar at the end (eruption). only crit I'd give is that it lacks the repeat of the attack on that last note at the end w/ the "dive"

I think on the original the dive at the end was actually done with a delay by turning up the delay time slowly. I wish I had some time to build a preset to demonstrate how to do this. Maybe I can get Matt to do one.

Some say it was an EP3 some say it was a Univox EC80. He turned the delay time und repeats up slowly. I tried to recreate this using a whammy block to go down one octave and the same time triggering a ping pong delay in series with the whammy. I used to do this type of effect way back in 1981 with an old echoplex tape delay I had, can't remember the model. It really depends on how I time hitting the note(12 fret harmonic on the low E), IA switch and how I drop the exp pedal. I can get it extremely close, much better than the video shows.
