Just got a Stealth half stack a while back. Some thoughts...

I'm a product of 70s and 80s rock guitar (been doing this a LONG time), so I'm not necessarily into super high-gain tones. The Stealth can be a monster. Every lover of all things metal should run out and get this amp immediately. For those who dig tones on the more classic end of things, the amp can do it, so don't let the "too much" comments deter you. The gain knobs actually work. You might have to set them lower or, in some cases, WAY lower than you do on your other amps to go a little more old-school. Blue channel at 9 o'clock can get me country to AC/DC to classic VH tones, all with changes to my guitar vol and picking dynamics. That's with a hot-ish Suhr Aldrich pickup. It's very alive and big sounding all across the spectrum and that can't really be dialed out. Some will like it (I do!) and some won't. Gain and saturation goes up really fast above 9 o'clock though, and I think that's where some will throw their hands up and run away screaming.

It's a little more open and raw than the original, on blue and red. I know that's hard to imagine given the crazy levels of gain it has, but it is. I had the 50w for a short while and mine was way too saturated and flubby, even at stupid low gain settings. Stealth is nothing like that thankfully. Blue and red work perfectly together, especially if you want red to be like blue, but just "more".

I LOVE that EVH did this demo! I'm not personally going for the tones he is so I thought I'd try to relay that there is plenty of room for "different" that might not be conveyed in the vid.

Sounds similar to the JVM205 I had. I did a mod to lower the gain across the board. Otherwise I kept the gain at 9:00 too!

This one pretty much pushed me over. I've wanted this amp since I first saw and heard the first run of them.
Kemper went back to dealer. I just wasn't having fun with an FRFR setup on stage and was not getting the results I was after.

Stealth head ordered and EVH 2x12 cab.
Running through Two-Notes for FOH.

Can't wait!

Another cool thing Al - your video is on the EVH page!

Yeah, was very of cool of them to put it up there!
Dude in the Unchained part of the video you are nailing the sweep of the flanger! Is that the EVH?
Thanks! Actutally, It's not the striped signature model, it's a 90's reissue, I found it to sound better even than the vintage 70's version which I've also owned at one time.

Awesome! The amp definitely has that vibe too.

Emgs? Boosts? This amp doesn't need any if you are using all that shame on you lol. I really want one but I feel like they will be worth 1200 this time next year.

Thats exactly it!
Everytime I get a new amp I turn everything at noon and work from there. (well not the volume   )
Most amps run nice with gain about noon. Not this one. It can be kept quite low and still sound great. Another problem I had with other amps is when you back off the gain...the amp seems to 'thin out'.
Not this one....it stays full power ball kickin.
Gotta play it a while and run it up and down the flag pole. I didn't buy the amp cause it was "EVH" I could care less.
I bought it from all the good feedback. And this video was what pushed me over the edge. Our own 5150clone
And this is the Red channel. Still sound like a massive death metal amp with too much gain? ;)

Man I cant take the grin off my face or stop laughing... :D
I just played some Rage Against The Machine, RIOT, Legs Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Anthrax, Metallica, Testament, Exodus, and Slayer.......all on the green "clean" channel.... It was dimed on the gain, as was the balance on the OD 808 as was the EMG SPC on my guitar....but holy crap!!!! I cant think of any other amp that I've owned or played that could pull off those type of tones on their clean channel! And the Blue and Red channel only get better than the green one! This amp is the one that I've been waiting for since I got my first Crate and Peavey back in the early 80's! I never wanted, needed, or used a clean channel anyway so now that I essentially have 3 awesome gain channels, I am in love :inlove:

ps. I am guessing the the green channel can actually get clean but I have no need or interests in clean. The only time I ever used a clean channel was back in the 80's with an old BOSS DS-1, and then later with a MT-2.....that was before I got into tubes amps...so I am not sure if that even counts..LOL.

Nice!

What do you use to make videos with?
I want to make some of the rock/metal/thrash green channel but dont have a camera other than my crappy Galaxy S4.
Care to share what your video recording gear is?

Sony HDR-MV1?
Zoom H4?
Zoom Q4?

I dont know....he seems pretty happy with it?
Unless he was just acting?
It's painfully obvious he is reading a script from Fender marketing. That's how the game is played.

Does the Stealth model lose some of the versatility in comparison to the original?

The only thing I wish this amp has was the midi jacks on the back. That footswitch is a pretty big honking box!

Anyone in ohio or close to Pittsburgh own one I need to try one

The footswitch is actually smaller then my Mesa one I had. The one he is using is HUGE!!

I don't think so. It's versatile in a different way I suppose. I probably sound like a broken record, but you can't be averse to extreme settings. Reading some replies here, I think some players are, which is cool. I get it. For example, you CAN get pristine clean on the green channel with the gain barely on, like at 0.5 and the channel master up. Stays clean no matter how hard I hit it and again, you don't lose any character or fullness with any of the gains that low. It sounds beautiful. Best clean I've ever had in a high-gainer, no contest. I don't run blue or red that low, but I think there's a fairly versatile range of gain between barely on and somewhere between 9 and 10 o'clock on both. After that, it's go-time.

FYI the foot controller for the amp is the one in the middle of the board with the blue LED. The long thing is a bunch of remote switches for his fx in the same foot switch boxes or cases that come with the amp but modded to control his fx or loops (not sure), I think there are 2 there end to end
