Are there still problems in levels between channels?
There's plenty of info on this with pushing and shoving in one or more TGP threads. In brief, after skimming the thread, the clean channel 1 volume will match crunch channel 2 volume if the clean gain is 1/2 way up or more. Otherwise with the clean gain below 1/2 way there is a jump in volume from ch1 to to ch 2 but this can be remedied with a MIDI pedal if you need.

Again, this is just based on what I skimmed and recollect. I reserve the right to be wrong.

I'm really interested in what the EVH company is going to put out next amp wise.

I'd place my bet on a true mini "lunchbox" style amp at 25w or less being up next. They pulled the name "Mini" off the 50w and it's just called the 5150III 50w now. So my guess is the next one out will be the true mini EVH head.

From Howard Kaplan himself (not quoted), the reason why the company didn't want the word "mini" to be associated with the amp is because they didn't want the public to think it sounded small or that it was a compromised amp. They didn't "pull" the word mini because it was never officially named that by the company, its just that the public and the dealers were labeling it that on there own.

Yes! The 5153 50 watter is definately not a 'mini' or 'lunchbox' bedroom amp. This thing gets LOUD and is the real deal. Just a great bang for the buck amp.

That damn Eddie....the guy is a genius

I thought I saw you post on another forum that they moved production from 'Nam to Mexico?

I wonder if the Vietnam models will go or down on the used market as a result...

Howard did say it was not a quality issue .more production and geographic .They heads were taking to long to get from Viet to USA Mexico could produce and ship much faster
The demand i think far exceeded what they expected .In canada backlog is till sometime n the fall

The only real change is going to be the LED lights for the channels and how they are connected. As stated below there isnt any issues with build quality...VN just couldnt make them fast enough

Not really the point of my post. My point was that my guess is the next amp will be an actual mini or "lunchbox" as some call them 25w or less amp. However, they did pull the name mini...

look at the prototype they had at NAMM. Notice, no Fender "F" before the "5150III" on the badge and under the III it says "mini". It's easier to read in the videos from when it was first shown at NAMM but it's clear enough here....

You can clearly see it here...

Thus why many people still call it "mini" despite that not being its final name, and the company not wanting it called a mini. People didn't just make up the name mini at random it was how the amp was first announced then the name changed and the word mini was removed from it.

I personally wouldn't want anything to do with a sub 50 watt amp.
A 5150 IV though? Now we're talking.
That would be far down the road. But I can wait.

I believe this as well. I haven't heard anything negative about the build quality. They seem pretty solid to me.

I want them to update the 100w with MIDI and more gain on channel 2. That's the only thing holding me back from checking out the 100w at the moment. If there was a 10/15w lunchbox, even shared EQ on all channels, or maybe a one channel (blue) amp for the right price, I would grab that too. The 50w is too damn loud late at night, and I hate using headphones. I've had great success using some Logitech computer speakers with the headphone output though.

This is the only amp I have an interest in trying out for a second amp. Seems pretty cool.

If they put MIDI on the 100w I will be in trouble......How can they NOT put MIDI on a modern amp?
I do have a rageing HO to try out the 50w from all the hype and awesome clips I have heard, Im thinking it would sound great with my vertical 2-12 on smaller gig's where my VH4 rack and 4-12 are overkill.

I was part of that thread and it was explosive. I am willing to bet another pot could be added to control the volume on the clean and 'fix' the issue.

Tried one that lasted one day at GC the other day, guy bought it as I was trying it out, they just got it in and put it out that morning, gone by noon. Sounded really great, although for the life of me I cant understand why omit one volume control for the clean to balance that channel. Just seems stupid to me. I know all about using rack FX unit to program and bal the channels but I like my pedals and I use a clean tone so thats a dealbreaker for me at least until they fix that issue. Make the thing 1" or 2" longer and add a master for the clean channel and I'll buy one in a heartbeat, sounded that good on the gain channels.

its not really an issue once you get it up to a decent volume

I love my 100 and only have two complaints. 1. Where the f**k is the MIDI?!!? And could we please get a button on either the front or rear panel to turn the loop on and off? Fix those two issues and it would kill! I've had my 100 for about six months now, and couldn't be happier with my tone.
