these are probably already all sold i'm guessing so the EVH marketing team have done an awesome job of pricing these :gethim:

I think the relics are cool looking.
But when someone sells a guitar that has blemishes from real playing. Its looked down upon as a beat up guitar.
But if someone buys it new with the blemishes there....its looked at as amazing.
Something seem odd in this thinking? :dunno:
I seen guys try to lowball others selling guitars with 'relicing' that came from natural playing.
Again....I love the relic look. But something got lost along the way. :aww:

So those critical of relics, never wear faded or torn jeans, or play cover songs, or do anything that one could conceive as being something you are not or unoriginal, either visually or sonically ?

My 2 cents.

I think you fellas dont understand the point.. its just marketing and its working perfectly all of you went to the site to check out how outrageous the price is.

Not any different from another manufacture. remember the prs dragon?
Don't even compare a beautiful work of art like a PRS Dragon to this overpriced atrocity that looks like it was painted with a can of Krylon and dragged down stairs from behind a truck.

Just saying.... that Dragon was horrendous in "my eyes " doesnt mean it should cost that much either. Point is that the people that have money will spend it to fulfill some void in their lives.. My most expensive guitar is a USA EVH Wolfgang, and I paid $1800 for it and I cant justify or rationalize paying any more for a guitar.. but hey its just me..

I totally agree with you. The price point in the last few years has really gotten out of control and its sad.

I get what you're saying, beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder. My point is that the Dragon has top shelf woods with amazing grain patterns. Also, God only knows how many man hours it takes to complete that inlay work. I could be wrong, but I thought that those inlays actually contain jems and/or gold. At least you're getting a museum piece for your cash. Anyway, the price is still insane, but I think it's much more justified than $14000 for a guitar that's basically the same as a production model with a relic job, and a poor one at that.

I for one cannot stand relics, or the whole market that they've become. It's so fake. Let me pay more for a brand new guitar that someone at the factory took a disc sander to and a couple of well placed chisels. Meh!! It reeks of being a poser. I can't believe that Eddie actually commissioned them to build him one for the tour. I understand necks feeling worn in, but they could do that on a fresh body. It's a guitar, you can either play it or can't. Putting a sticker on it or scrapping some paint doesn't make you cooler or a better player, just lame if it's intentional.

Any way, rant over.
I agree 100% on the whole relic'ing issue.

I found it so odd and cheesy that EVH took a a relic'd guitar on this past tour. I mean, if he liked the feel of the worn neck they could have put it on a new body. Now in his defense, I think the story is that he was planning on using his stealth from the previous tour but really dug the tone and feel of the relic and didn't want to change anything.
