what you are saying is electronically possible due to the buffers. but it would be dependent on the pickups you are playing through it as well as the exact amplifier. which would be why some people say it does not and others say it could or does.
if you can tell the difference in playing just by turning a pedal on and off, either those are some serious drugs, or that is one sensitive amplifier and guitar pickup

Perhaps, but be that as it may, anyone who has run a Phase 90 into a cranked Plexi/Superlead can tell you that it doesn't loosen anything up, nor does it soften the attack or feel.
