EVH Wolfgang… USA versus Special?

Has anyone played both back to back? If so, what's the difference in tone? I couldn't care less how the guitar looks… I'm just talking tone…
I want to get a tobacco burst… It's been years since I've had a new guitar, i'm going to buy a Les Paul R9 and one of these… I have a music man EVH from 1992 and I love that neck!
Just wanted to get some insight to the difference in tone and body woods in EVH's expensive USA and cheaper model,

I have both... Honestly they are both really nice guitars.. I love the USA model better, I find it not as bright as the Japanese special I have but do find it very balanced sounding (the Japanese one is more bassie) . As far as the body, The USA is a much better built guitar than the Japanese and Mexican standard or what ever the new ones with the arch top are. Like I said I own the Japanese special and the USA, Iv played the new mexican ones and they are not up to par, they feel cheap (no ss frets) just kinda plain is the best way to explain it, and they dont sound or perform as nice as my USA one.

Now everyone is gonna jump in saying their political correct peace and tell you that it doesn't matter where its made, that they are the same blah blah blah..
This is just my honest opinion since I have all incarnations of EVH's USA guitars.

OH forgot to mention the USA and the cheap $500 one are light years apart, honestly to me there is no comparison, its like 2 different guitars.
