Is the Wolfgang worth owning to a non EVH superfan?

So what's the verdict from you guys that own one of the EVH Wolfgangs? I'm not a super EVH fanboy, but I do enjoy alot of Van Halen songs and can definitely appreciate EVH as a player. But does the Wolfgang offer something where every time you pick it up you think "yeah, I'm glad I have this. Really offers something that none of my other guitars offer"...

Been kind of curious about one. Is there a specific one that the best bang for the buck? Standard? Special?

I have two specials, I hate VH can't you tell.

For what I paid for them both was a great deal.

I think they are awesome, I like the arch top.
The necks are fantastic for me, the ergonomics on the guitars are very well thought out. The neck has hand relief and is recessed at the bolt location on the body so reach is extremely easy on them.
The floyd is dive only with a D tuna, it's a really nice guitar even if you hate VH like me.

You can get one on reverb fir under 800 for a special, my QM was 725.00 my polar white was slightly more. So not crazy money, the neck is to me the best thing ever.

Funny thing is KentC initials remind me of Ken Carlevi. That guy quite liked Van Halen haha

I sold my old USA Peavey Wolfgang, because I thought it looked ridiculous to play one...

I've regretted it ever since. Judging on the guitar alone, especially for the price they could be had for at the time, I should've held onto that one & just enjoyed it.

Im not a huge Van Halen fan much anymore. I’ve owned a special and a standard peavey each at two at different times and sold both. The dive only is a deal breaker anymore and the archtop was dead wood dark sounding. I’ve had better luck with Les Pauls and mut superstrats on playability and tone. The newer fender ones have tiny frets which I hate too so these days I don’t play them anymore.

IMO, buy the guitar for the guitar. I held off buying any signature gear because I’m not the same player and didn’t want the comparison. Move on a number of years and now I don’t care. If the guitar or gear suits your playing style - get it!

I now have a Wolfgang special and an EVH head. Both get me where I want to go but I’m no EVH.

I resisted buying a WS at first, I did not like it's look, wasn't cool enough, then I actually sat with one, its the easiest guitar for me, neck width and thickness it fits my hand like it was made for it, I'm never going to play anywhere near EVH.

IMHO they are a nice guitar and you can float the bridge if you truly want to.

They seem a dime a dozen these days. I would certainly take a Les Paul or an Explorer or an SG over one.

Yes. They are unique feeling which you will love or hate. I have 2 Standards I love. They have a narrow, rounded neck. The whole guitar is tiny and short, so it feels closer to you than other styles. The Dtuna makes it fun for drop tuning.

Really digging my Special. It feels like an hybrid in between my Les Paul and super starts. The pickups are very dynamic and the neck very smooth and comfortable.

I have tried several, but I am so used to my LP, Taylor, Charvel type neck widths that the Wolfie necks feel tiny in my hands. I think some of the newer EVH guitars have the wider nut widths and I would give one of those a shot. Not going to buy one to find out though. Would have to take the 3 hour hike to Sweetwater for some testing first.

Yes. I wouldn't even consider them a signature guitar.

To me they are a perfect blend of Les Paul tone and feel with Strat playability. Like a Les Paul but with a faster neck, a way less obstrusive heel, less weight and a Floyd Rose.

I really love the pickups too, very chunky but articulate.

The early Peavey Wolfgang Specials were the best bang for the buck. Made in USA. Ugly colors and some neck shape inconsistency from guitar to guitar, but they are fantastic player guitars.

I have a new MIJ Wolfgang. It's a very nice guitar with a lot of quirks. The neck is entirely too narrow/cramped. I don't know if Eddie had small hands or what, but it takes an adjustment. The vintage frets I've learned to be ok with, but definitely feel out of place on a shredder guitar. The body feels huge but maybe it's the tiny headstock giving that illusion. The Fish Eye strap rings are retarded and dig in your thigh when sitting. You can't use the straps either because the clasps bang about the body and scratch the finish. All that said, I love the guitar!
