Anyone have the EVH usa wolfgang signature, thoughts? Im talking about the newer ones.

Is this what you're talking about?

I've never played that particular model, but tried a number of USA EVH Wolfgangs early on that I didn't like feel or sound-wise nearly as much as my cheap-o USA Peavey Wolf Special. Haven't played a USA EVH in a long time though, so it's possible the newer models are different than the early ones I tried.

The Peavey USA Wolfgangs are where it's at. I had two and regret selling one of them.

I tell ya, I have a decent number of great guitars and my Peavey Wolf Special is a standout. It sounds like nothing else. A slab of basswood with a way-too-thick clear coat and a maple neck. You wouldn't think it would sound as killer as it does, but for whatever reason, it works. Bought it brand-new way back in the 90s and was so enamored with it, I immediately scooped up a couple of Standards w/ maple caps. Neither of those sounded nearly as good, so they didn't stay long, but the Special is a keeper.

Only owned one Wolfgang.
Think 95-96?
It was one of the ‘paten pending’ peaveys.
Thing was amazing. Black. Arch top.
Sold it for double I paid for it. That was my guitar collecting days.
Should of kept it. Thing was superb.
Actually bought it off Michael Charvel from Wayne charvel guitars.

Ive owned both a special and my current maple top. The maple top really thickens up the tone for sure. You’d think it would brighten it but it actually does the opposite and emphasizes the low mids. The top end is very sweet on mine and not sharp or out there like my special.

I sold my Wolfgang special to a collector as it needed a refret and I regret letting it go. It sounded great and not worse than my standard, but different.

My current Wolfgang is a dream guitar. I always dreamed of owning a green standard when I owned my special. I’m very thankful to have found one and to have restored it. It needed a lot of work, but it’s all there.

Beautiful!

You're exactly right about the Standard vs. Special, it's thicker and warmer without that snap that the Specials have. In addition to that though, mine were just kinda dull. I've heard others that sounded much better. Bought both online without playing them first, so luck of the draw and lesson learned for me.

That green is awesome!

I had a gold colored special and a green standard. I bonded with the special more, but I made a helluva lot of money on both.

I have two of the USA EVH WG. Haven't played a Peavey.

I own a bunch. Love them all. Just got a purple flame Peavey standard. They are great guitars.
