as far as the "hours" of material from 5150 studio. That sounds like drunken shit talk to me. you know how many blow hard musicians claim to have "hours" of material? i see it on blabbermouth at least once a month.
I agree, especially considering that A Different Kind of Truth was all unreleased tunes that they re-recorded to make them all cohesive and modern etc. Why would they have done that if he had so much stuff in the can to pick from ?

"EVHgear...what's gonna happen?"

100% believe the Ernie Ball EVH and PV Wolfgang guitars will go up in value..the EB EVH ended production 25 years ago ago and the PV 16 years ago so they aren't getting any younger.

From the very first block letter version of the 5150, the Ernie Ball & PV guitars, all the way to today's EVH gear, I always felt like the stuff with Eddie's name on it was quality stuff.
The guitars and amps might not have been your thing, but he never put out shit gear just to make a buck off his name.
That's the one thing I hope never changes with the EVH brand.

The only real difference between the block/script logo 5150's is Sylvania vs Shuguang power tubes, amirite?

This is true

I said the same thing on another forum. Also, if you watch Ed’s 2004 NAMM appearance when he was in little worse for wear, people are asking him to play some new stuff and he basically said “There is no new stuff. I got nothin’.”

Ya figure, he was pretty bad off for many of those years. There’s probably tons of tapes/files with a lick or riff here and there, maybe a couple sections of songs but I wouldn’t be surprised if that were it.

Maybe one day, they’ll build an EVH museum and as you’re walking room to room, they’ll have some of those licks being played in the background. It’d be a good way to put them to use instead of letting them die unheard.

The biggest thing I'm worried about is the way the amps will develop from here on out without Eddie's opinions guiding the process. We all know an amp is as much about how it feels as it is about how it sounds so it won't be as simple as just listening to clips and saying yes/no, and well... Eddie had a pretty good track record for guiding the production and release of some of the most recorded amps of all time.

It will be easy enough to leave a guitar feeding back into a new amp at top volume for a month and all that stuff but building the 5150 IV or whatever it's going to be called is going to be a big challenge without the guy.

Yup!
Had a Block logo from '92 and a 6505 from early 2000's...
I hunted down the Block logo specifically to see what the deal was.
I had them both open on the bench at the same time.
They were EXACTLY the same.
And with the same tubes, they sounded identical.
Peavey ran out of Sylvania 6L6's right around the time they got sued by Electrovoice and had to change the logo.
Yeah, of course the script logo amps sounded different. Chinese power tubes
Those Sylvania's are

Careful with the critical thinking. Fans are a fragile thing. But, ...muh block letter?

I have no doubt some will jack prices in the short term but its not sustainable.
You can polish a turd but its still a Peavey.
Ultimately the price of something is whatever someone will pay.
I have no doubt some people will think buying EVH gear is an "investment" until reality sinks in and they realize thats not the case.
As for "what will happen to EVH gear" ? There will be a buzz for a short while then attention will shift to the next "shiny new thing".

THIS!

Well, considering that you just about can't fins an EVH guitar in stock at an online retailer... I think the brand is in good shape. I will eventually pick up a 5150 III Stealth. As I've wanted one for a while.

a Metro-Friedman Rockstah head would be worthy, as long as they stuck to Mark's final circuit value design/s. Mark & I traded emails on a Mod 5 for my '82 4104 chassis, month before he passed..rip btw.

I am saddened immensely by Ed's passing, as I never got to see him live. Wish I had the opportunity looking back.

My question is I know Fender owns/manages EVHgear, but when it comes to the higher end amp development/final say, whom is this being passed to? I know HK was developer of the 5150III stuff, and Ed tweaked things to his current tone preference in the Stealths...wonder what the future holds? Or is it done on the amp side of things?

I called Fender directly last week about a part for my 6l6 amp,and went ahead and asked them that question..I was told Wolfgang is in charge now.

Was it that drastic of a change besides a few parts and the PPIMV in the already cascaded gain of the 2204?

Which means he will let everyone else design a bunch of cool stuff and just collect the royalties. I think that is what it was intended for anyway, his dad set him up well!
