High quality cables make a hell of a difference more so for pedal board, guitar applications..speaker wire is speaker wire.

I bought a speaker wiring kit for my cabinet a while back when I changed speakers. Today I installed my orignal speakers and the speaker wire kit wasn't even long enough. Thanks Lava Cable. Anyways, I found some old stereo speaker cable and used that. They sound just as good if not better.

As someone who has paid for these over priced cables don't buy into the hype. And if you have well then your in the same boat as me except mine are sitting outside the cabinet collecting dust now.

I agree.

Contact Lava, they'll take care of it. Mark and company are great people.

High quality cables aren't bs though. There important but everyone will have a different take on them because we all hear different. speaker wire isn't the most important but its good to have quality speaker wire. I have been using Kimber speaker wire and cable for a year now. The speaker cable I have is awesome. Huge difference to my ears vs the one I was using. Speaker cable is just as important as your instrument cables.

sorry you had a problem but high quality cables are hugely important

+1 (x3)

you trying to sell something soon?

I wouldn't go for the cheapest cables in a bin @ Sam Ash, but as long as you buy some level of quality the cables won't stop you from your rock dreams

My take is: If you don't invest on professional cables, that means you don't care about your tone. Since I turned to Evidence Audio, Lava, and Mogami, all my rigs took a huge step forwards. You can only realize about how much tone you're missing when you go for the best cables you can buy and change the whole cabling in you rig.

I have bought a quite a few high quality cables. They may make a slight difference but I think thats your mind trying to justify the purchase. I have come to logical senses. Think about the wiring in you guitars and in your amps. Are they "premium quality" wires. No. According to this logic I would need to change all the wiring.

Agree, especially in a rack rig. I'd been having hum/noise problems for the longest time until I invested in some quality patch cables, and all of a sudden my rig was dead quiet. Just a thought...

did evh, srv, jh, hell anyone who's tone people admire use "high end" cables? i think not. were ANY of their pedals true bypass? i doubt it.

From a scientific standpoint speaker and instrument cables definitley have an affect on the tonal freqencies. FWIW

I wouldn't bash the cables because they didn't work for your application. I personally don't use anything that's not off the shelf stuff but I understand why some people do. I would say that the difference will more likely be noticed in the guitar cable than the speaker cable.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't buy cheap cable either. The durability and reliability could be an issue. Sorry the expensive stuff didn't work out for you. We all live and learn.

I recently bought two 20' cables. 1 Lava Blue Demon, and 1 Mogami Gold. They were both about the same price. Compared them directly to each other and to a cheap live wire cable and a med priced DiMarzio cable.

There was a clear difference with the lava cable. Compared to the others it increased or maybe the better term would be attenuates less lower mids. To make sure I wasnt hearing things I asked my other guitarist to listen while I switched back and forth. He said the same thing I was thinking...

The Mogami and DiMarzio both sounded the same to me. The Live Wire kills some high end...

But... they look so pretty. I often enjoy a snifter of brandy in my silk smoking suit while gazing upon my their beauty.

I hate to say it becaue they're so hated but I've had a Monster Studio Pro? Speaker cable for over 10 years and it definitely made an improvement over other cables I was using. More body seemed to come through. At the end of the day though with everything that gets lost in a dense mix or live, as long as it works I'm pretty happy :D
