FAFO.. Or rather, FAFR...

Let's get real here for a minute.. do you suffer from FAFR (Fear of Anything Floyd Rose)?

Finally got around to putting one of my Warmoth guitars back together this weekend that had been sitting in pieces for probably a year or longer. Pretty much your standard, run of the mill super strat with dual hums, big frets and a Floyd Rose. It occurred to me while I was setting it up that a lot of folks "fear the Floyd". Sure, they require a little more tinkering to lock down your intonation, even if Red Bishop makes that a breeze now, and you gotta balance the opposing forces and all that jazz to get it to sit level, but why is there such fear of Floyd Rose trems. I guess, coming up in the 80's where it wasn't unusual to find a guitar that didn't have some kind of locking trem so I just learned to deal with it and it's never been the point of abject terror to me that it is to some folks.

So, what camp do you fall into.. Floyd Fear, or Floyd Fan.

No one fears floyds, they just value their personal time :ROFLMAO:

If I had guitar techs to restring and setup my guitars I'm sure I would have a bunch of them

Since I actually have to restrying and setup my own guitars for my gigs, I will literally never play a floyd live

As someone with the audacity to show up to a blues jam with a PRS I would expel myself if I showed up with a FR equipped guitar. As a badge holding member of the blues police certain standards must be enforced!

Setting up a floyd is really the 3rd grade of guitar skills. If the restringing and setup takes more than 1 hour tops, you don't get the basics. Once you've set it up it stays in tune great, and unless you change tuning or string gauge, string change is nothing after that. EVH setup for dive only is even easier..

I always set mine with a trem stop, so I never have any trouble. Dive only for me. Not a big trem user anyway.

Exactly . If I had a tech I’d be Steve bai and Jason Beckererin all over my guitars

Here's our boy Yngwie's approach to blues. No Floyd, but there's definitely a wiggle stick on his guitar.

I have always had a lot of Floyds. I find I am using them less and less these days, and I am prefering hardtails because the Floyd locking nuts make the guitar feel stiffer, IMO. However, I don't think they are that hard to work with. Hell, I have messing with Intonation on one of mine the last few days with one of those Key tools.

I have floyds on about 1/2 my guitars. Other than the lack of correctly radiused nuts, and historically saddles, they're great.

I've honestly never understood why people have trouble setting them up. Other than having to cut the strings at both ends and clamp them, it's like any floating trem.

I don’t understand the blues players reluctance towards a Floyd.. one was prominently featured in the greats motion picture representing blues and its history to ever grace the silver screen…

None other than Crossroads staring The Karate kid.
