Found this SG std on GC used and the logo and serial number jumped out at me. The logo is not centered and the serial number looks like typical Asian ink stamping and the Made In USA looks all wrong. What do you guys think?

Yea this looks fake for the reasons you've already mentioned

Etched not stamped serial. Shameful they didn’t catch it.

I found that listing, there's a photo of the pickups and neck, no fret nibs and giant looking frets.

the clearer the serial number, the faker it is

wait, does this mean i can buy shitty fakes and bring em to GC to trade?

Tuners look off as well ,,,,,
yeah looks like a more opaque "color match" and not the translucent faded. The greenish hue is usually due to the copper in the heat stabilzer compound. Sink marks in the knob don't match either. Also no Gibson Deluxe script on the gear covers.

The truss rod covers are two shot molding with the black molded with the larger white base. This costs a bit more than a single molded piece with white printing as a border. Can't tell that one from the photo tho

I quit buying used Gibson. Some of the fakes are so close I can not tell anymore.

The fret thing can just be a re-fret. The nibs usually go bye-bye after one is done. I emailed Gibson, asking about the guitar. Interesting to see if they’ll do anything about it.
I'm with you on the refret but based on the other things already pointed out, plus the frets, I'm leaning fake.

Is the fret work better or worse than a real one? Asking for a friend.
