How do you tell where it’s made when it doesn’t say on the back of the headstock. I’m looking at one that I know it isn’t USA but trying to figure if it’s Mexican or Asian. All it has on the back of the headstock is the FMIC trademark blurb. Is there a way to tell from the serial number? Unfortunately the pics of the guitar don’t let me get a clear pic of the serial.

The neck plate will say where it's made.
Imports are primarily Mexico, with a few select ones in Korea. Of course Japan as well. The older Japanese models won't have the thumbwheel truss rod adjustment, (but earlier Mexican models didn't either around 2013-2016, I believe, but should clearly say origin on the neck plate).

On looking at a couple of pics it looks like you have to tell by the serial number. Is it as simple as if it begins with an M, it’s Mexican made?

F’n GC. So they had a used Pro Mod SoCal in natural with a nice grain, ash body that peaked my interest, to find out they have it only around $100 less than what it is new. That’s why I was trying to identify it because I thought the price was a little high. But just by searching with a description I found the new ones.
Their used pricing is always all over the place.
