Fake LP?

Fake.

Headstock Diamond is too small.

Serial/Made In USA...incorrect.

Can't see the Gibson Custom logo on the back of the headstock anywhere.

As for the Teardrop, that's the current design...Mine looks similar, silverburst back and neck. pretty close.

Ha. Didn't even notice the lack of Custom Shop logo on the back of the neck. That's a dead giveaway.

The one in the CL ad looks real but I'd inspect it in person before dropping any cash, as always before buying something on CL.

Ya, this one is clearly fake. But the 1980 LPC looks legit to me. I just don't understand why he's asking to little. Desperate or not those things can still fetch more than 2k in a hurry. There's another 79's silverburst LPC near me and dude's asking 3500. i'm surprised that nobody has snagged it yet. I hope he still has it in a couple weeks. I'll buy it for sure if it's still around, assuming I'm happy with it in person.

Gibson has made a few tear dropped silverbursts. I don think they're customs though.

All the silverbursts from late 70's and early 80's and the recent ones they've been doing since '03 or so are all in the tear drop shape. Not all have the silverburst on the back or next or headstock though. I've noticed that the LP standards and studios are they ones which are non-tear drop.
