This is why I choose to deal with straight up good builders. Splawn, Rivera, Fryette, etc. I have spoke to all of them personally, own multiple of all of their amps, never had a problem with any of them and they are legit straight up builders and businessmen. Rhodes is cool too, so is Dave Friedman, etc. I choose not to deal with bullshit.

I've had a few Fortin products over the years. Recently snagged the Hydra which is a clever and simple controller. But yes, I watched that video and it is a huge turnoff. Plenty of places to spend your cash without having deal with that nonsense.
I spent extra on a new Sigil shipped from Thomann to the usa and flipped it within a week at a huge loss because I didn't like the power section at all. Not sure if it had the standby issue, I kind of remember it crackling down in volume in a weird way, not sure if it ever went all the way off. Great preamp though, I would have loved a Pumpkin but yikes, the price and customer service concerns are valid.

Where's Larry? I'm about to switch teams and get in his 5 year line lol

Different dude. This lacky Zachy has been involved in some shady gear flipping for a long time...like trying to pass of a Hetfield-played Indonesian guitar for thousands. Some poor soul got burned on that one. Since then he's been a 'marketing guy' for Kiesel(Big time fail) and then Fortin. He successfully insulted tons of remorseful buyers on both the Kiesel and Fortin FB pages into keeping their shit products. Or so I heard.

I can't believe anyone would hire Zack at this point, and I would seriously question any company that would be dumb enough to do it. A simple google search reveals pages of complaints against him and stories about how he treats people. Would you want to do business with a company that shows that poor of judgement of character?

When your core lineup originated from someone else's designs. You have no true company in terms of R&D, customer service or even an actual brick and mortar business, yet pass yourself off as the second coming of High-gain Amp Jesus, i have an issue. He copies a design and repackages it. He gets Ola to make a recording. I gotta stop, here because i have to say i think Ola is way overrated. You pay up front. Someone else makes the amp, and usually a different person each time. When something doesn't work, their is a shell of a business and no system to ethically service a customer. Sorry but as long as naive customers drink the koolaid, someone else is going to fill his shoes.

I have to agree, on all accounts. I'm a fan of Ola, simply because he knows how to record, and have much respect for his success in drawing in followers, and branding his own guitars, but his shtick has gotten old, as has his riffs.

Fortin cashed in on hype, but at the end of the day, he's shot himself in the foot. I think he's got some great sounding amps, but if your after the sale support is that bad, you employ
a dickhead like Zach, (who I know is gone), to do PR and marketing, and have shitty QC, no thank you.

Plus, his prices were ridiculous as fuck. But, idiots paid 'em.

Yes well said and agreed on everything except his amps sounding great. I’ve tried a Natas and Meshuggah and wasn’t impressed by either. Owned 2 Gower’s, which I’m guessing sound similar if not better than Fortin’s mods and they sounded good but not great. Had a 33, Grind, Hexdrive, Fuzz and Zuul, again all were decent in quality of tone, but certainly nothing great. Life’s too short for gear that’s decent but not great, especially at the prices he charges

I really liked the Hexdrive. But, $225 + $16.95 shipping was insane, I thought.

I admit the Hexdrive was better than I was expecting and maybe could’ve stayed if it weren’t for other pedals I already had that were better. It was my favorite of the Fortin pedals I’ve had. Was like a more modern voiced tube screamer

I just got a Hex and really like it. This drama has definitely hurt Fortin resale. Can't sell my Blade for the life of me unless I let it go for $100...

I had a “Fortin inspired” amp once upon a time. Had tons of gain, but no meat. No real tone. And it was thin.

Just biased on the way that Fortin talked on FB years ago, I knew then I’d never buy anything from that guy. He’s a legend in his own mind. I KNEW it was a matter of time for him. Looks like it’s coming to pass. You reap what you sow.

Adding one more part to the above text, since a few people asked about.
First time Baby ***** really offended me was because I've made a "high gain amp shootout from Brazil" and posted on Rig-Talk. On the shootout I've used two Wizard amps, a VH4, Friedman Marsha, Cameron Bassman, 5153... anyway, enough amps to make the Baby *****'s drip in envy. So, what does he do? He goes straight to post that he knows those amps better than anyone else, and that they should not sound the way mine ones did. Ok until then... wasn't for him saying that "Very suspicious that someone claims to own all those amps, especially someone from a third world country". What a racist piece of ****!!
And I've forgiven him, and he did it again when I've moved back to LA in 2018.
Forgiven him once again, and even helped him to get on the list for his "Larry" amp, which he claims he's saying the world by getting it. Spent over an hour on the phone with him answering questions and later on messaging and telling him about Baby *****'s intention and desire to get one of his amps.
Sadly, dealing with losers it's always like this... when you least expect, they'll act like it again. And again, and again, and again... born a looser, always a looser.
