Ok, I'm looking to beef up the bridge of my Eric Johnson Strat. I've tried raising the pickup and it has a tone control wired to the bridge which both help, but I'm looking for more balls and bite without going into stacked or humbucker land which would most likely diminish the nuances of a good single coil and the 2nd position quack. My search has lead me to the Duncan SSL-6 (flat pole SSL-5) or a Fralin SP43 (lots of positive reviews, but zero clips showing off the muscle of this pickup out there).

Check out zexcoil ! they make a great sounding hot bridge single coil

Sound great, especially for zero hum pickups.

Quarter Pound gets my vote. Still plenty of quack in position 2. I used them for a long time until I converted my strat back to stock. I actually have 2 of them sitting unused. I'll send you one for $25 if you want to try it. Don't mean to SPAM you, but I'm no longer using the QP's

Another great one is the BG s90......it's like a p90 in single format.

It's been years since I tried the Duncan SSL-6 but it sounds like it is in the ballpark of what you are looking for and pretty good. Duncan Quarter Pounder (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1liamESo8_U#t=18 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHEWaliU3y8#t=80 ), Fender Custom Shop Fat 50's for less output ( http://www.fender.com/guitar-bass-parts ... -set-of-3/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcMezw5g088), Rolph late 50's or early 60's strat set with less output than both Duncan's described above and true vintage fat strat specs. If you are looking for a true single coil fat strat tone or SRV fatness Rolph will be your ticket. If you are looking for more modern tone with that fat strat attitude consider the others. Mostly depends on how much you want to hit the front end of your amp(s) and how much responsiveness you want. Good luck!

Have you thought of adding a baseplate to your bridge pickup? It supposed to give it more of a tele bridge sound.

I have one I am not using, so if you want to try it let me know.

Right now I'm leaning towards the Zexcoils - Juicy Bucker in the bridge and SV's in the middle and neck.
