Favorite Cantrell Tone....

Both songs mentioned are KILLER and changed the way I think about electric guitar. (Gotta love that Bogner-modded Marshall tone on Facelift and Dirt)
But I am liking the intro tone of "A looking in View" more and more. It's just so thick and brutal, yet retains Jerry's signature sound. Also, his tones on Jar of Flies are out of this world! IMO their best work and one of the best albums ever. He's my favorite guitarist ever.

JC's tone led me straight to Friedman and before that to Bogner. Been mooching off Jerry's tone and bi-amping for years!

I love the sound of that guitar on when we die young, so damn raunchy , yet polite at the same time haha I honestly prefer his earlier tones a little more... but they all sound great

hell ya! it's vulgar in an acceptable way.

I love his tone on Facelift, he never had a better tone. And i bet he's using a lot less gain there than people think.

I would have to go with It Ain't like that..
And Rain when I die, The tone and wah is awesome..

Sea of Sorrow, Rain When I Die, Dirt, and What The Hell Have I

I'm not sure what this reveals about me, but every time I scan the forum and see this topic title, my mind jumps to "Favorite Camel Toe".

Sorry... I'm sitting in China, running on almost zero sleep and 100% jet lag and the best I could do for breakfast was watermelon and fried rice...

First album for sure! It has that something! Rawness!

Dirt... Best mother F*^%ing S%^t I've ever heard from AIC
I AM IRON GLAND HAHAHAHAHA

Man in the box, Grind, Again, Anger Rising, Spider Bite, some songs off of Boggy Depot and DT

I would say Angry Chair and Dickeye are the two I always refer to for Cantrell.

Overall Facelift for the best tone, but also Them Bones, What The Hell Have I, Grind, Bargain Basement Howard Hughes... too many to mention!

I say his current tone on BGWTB along with Dickeye and the Tripod album.

Regarding Facelift, when that album came out most people did not think it was that great of a tone, but now people look back as it was some kind of benchmark.

I was always a huge AIC fanboy but I just wanted to point out this observation also most people in music stores thought Metallica sucked back in the real early 90's. I think it was mostly due to jealousy or EVH fanbois.

We Die Young tone is definitely one of my faves. Alot of the Degradation Trip tones I like alot and I love the tones on Black Gives... are what I would try to cop for myself. The newest tones fit my taste/style the best.
