I've been busy trying lots of amps/speakers, & cabs lately. I like testing different amps with different cabs/speakers to see the differences in sound.

I currently own:
Bogner Uberkab Celestion V30's & T-75's in an X pattern(rear loaded)
Krankenstein Straight Cab with Eminence Texas Heats(rear loaded)
Marshall Mode Four MF400 Straight Cab with Celestion K-100's(rear loaded)
Peavey MS412 Slant Cab with Celestion K-85's(rear loaded)
Carvin Vai Legacy Straight Cab V-30's(front loaded)
Carvin V3 straight Cab with Celestion T-75's(front loaded)
Carvin MTS Angled Cab G12's(front loaded)
Carvin 2x12 with Celestion T-75's(front loaded)
Crate US Made Cab with Celestion Vintage 30's

What are your favorite all around speakers? How much difference does the cab their in make?

I played my 5150II through a Mesa cab and it sounded awesome, but never have owned a mesa cab.

I like each of these speakers for their own qualities. T-75's at this point are slightly ahead of all the rest in my opinion currently. This changes almost daily though lol. I really like the tight bottom end chunk of the T-75's and the relatively smooth mid and top end. V30's have a somewhat woofy type of mid range not quite as tight as the T-75's bottom end and a little more highs. The K-85 & K-100's are very similar in sound most likely because most people say it is the same speaker. Very flat response with the K-85/100. Both respond well to EQ changes on the amp and have tight bottom ends. These speakers can sound any way you want them to and they will do it really smooth. Eminence Texas Heats have a much different sound. They almost sound like they're in a different location than what they are, hard to describe. Very deep sounding, the most bottom end of any speaker aI own or have tried. Subdued mids/highs, absolutely thunderous lows.

I have a 79 Marshall cab with G12 65s, Marshall labeled. Combine a broken in V30 with a greenback and that's it. Great with a Marshall type amp IMO. I have played an 80s jcm 800 cab with well broken in 75s and they sounded nice. My other cab is a Trace Elliot B cab with 2 older V30s x pattern with WGS ET65s. Those are very close to the Celestion 65s. I run these with a Jubilee combo. Another nice cab is a Marshall 425A or B cab with G12C greenbacks...sounded killer with a 5153 I had a few years ago.

I have yet to try the greenbacks, but have heard good things about them. I'm still trying to get a local guy to sell me his Framus Cobra with cabinet. He's willing to sell the head, but not the cab. That to me says a lot about greenbacks, & that I need to try them

I hear those cabs are great, on par with Bogner/Diezel cabs. That's why I grabbed this Trace cab, some think they are built as well as those others I mentioned. I can tell you that there is insulation inside, and that it is very thick sounding. Found it for 350....

G12-65 for me. I like the G12M speakers, but sometimes they are just too crunchy sounding. V30s can sound great too but always are a bit in your face. To me, the Mesa V30s do sound different from others, but even they must be broken in or they sound irritating. I suppose someone could complain that the G12-65 is too laid back. The G12C is cool. Not sure my tin ears could really tell them apart from the G12M.

Broken in T-75s can sound OK, but I'd rather have any of the speakers above.

Bogner cabs are cool, but just a Marshall 1960 cabinet can sound awesome. Mesa makes quality stuff but is fixed baffle, so a bit different from the typical Marshall-style cab, even when they're not oversized.

G12Cs are darker, less bright than G12Ms...almost takes a vintage style amp into modern territory. That 5153 that I ran with them had a thick modern thing going on with the red channel....should have kept that cab. Hard to find.

Really does make a difference, seems to focus the sound. I've done it before with a 1960AV, definitely an improvement.

I've tinkered with putting that batting in cabs. You can easily overdo it, making the cab sound very strange (dead and woofy), but in moderation it can be neat. I ended up taking it all out.

Bogner V30 4x12...and believe it or not my fav right now is a DV Mark 4x12 with their Neo drivers. Weighs 46 lbs and sounds great to me with most of my amps....unbelievably light! Want to try changing the top two V30s for Greenbacks in the Bogner cab to see how that sounds. haven't found a pair of used greenbacks at 16 ohms yet

Any amp head in the room thru my Cameron 4x12 with h30s and an ISP vector 600 watt 15" sub set for low volume just to make the bottom end 3D sounding.

OR....

Two warhead stacks (4x12 with h30s and k100s in the top cabs, and two 15" in the bottom cabs) with any other two heads. The Herbert/ultralead combo is amazing. As is the Marshall/recto combo, and recto/6505 combo.

I have used my line out plugged into my surround sound self powered sub woofer for the same purpose, sounds awesome

The ISP guitar sub's have built in crossovers to remove the lows from the 4x12 to keep them tight.

Custom Birch with 1970 G12H30 and Celestion Relic 30
