Probably the Mesa/Boogie standard cab I have, which has V30's, of course.

Im looking at picking up an oversized recto cab possibly today :)

I don't know if you bought your cab yet but i had a Mesa Recto 4x12 cab (oversize) and a Stiletto 4x12 cab (traditional). I kept the traditional it's tighter. I've found the oversize flubby, too woofy for my taste. Maybe you should try the traditional too before buying.

Bogner V30 4x12...and believe it or not my fav right now is a DV Mark 4x12 with their Neo drivers. Weighs 46 lbs and sounds great to me with most of my amps....unbelievably light! Want to try changing the top two V30s for Greenbacks in the Bogner cab to see how that sounds. haven't found a pair of used greenbacks at 16 ohms yet

I have a DV Mark 4x12 also....What a great sounding light weight cab !

I agree 100%, I wound up picking up a Carvin Vai Legacy 4x12 which of course has V30's. I jammed on the oversized mesa cabinet and it sounded really dark, super scooped, and really flubby. Found this Vai cab at music go round, played a few heads with it and loved it instantly. Huge bottom end that's super tight, smooth mids and a high end that can cut or be shut down easily with the turn of your tone knob.

My favorite depends on what I am going for sound wise. Sometimes you need a different flavor or coloring and various cabs and speakers/cables/etc can provide what you are needing. Can't go wrong with a Bogner cab.

Just Jammed on my 5150ii with my ts7 in front of it, with peavey ms412 cab Celestion K-85's & Carvin Vai 4x12 Celestion Vintage 30's, holy mother of Jesus that's one hell of a combo! I'll have to record some of this

My favourite cab is a slant Recto 4x12 (standard) with the stock V30s. It's big and percussive. It doesn't have the upper mid spike typical of a V30 cab and leaves a spot in the mids where the vocals typically sit.

Other cabs I have sitting around:

Recto 2x12 - Same basic flavour as the 4x12, only a little more scooped sounding with a touch more top end.

Orange 4x12 w/ V30s - I've grown to hate this cab. It sounded good when I was using old school mid gain amps but turned into a harsh mess with a giant icepick when I went back to high gain. Someday I'll get off my lazy ass and sell this.

Orange 4x12 that was loaded with G12T-75s but is currently sitting empty - The T-75s are cool and have a wicked chunk when palm muting but the top end gets to me. The plan is to load it with G12M-25s but the project was sidetracked two or three years ago when I stuck the two speakers I had in some 1x12s and I haven't gotten back to it.

Mesa 1x12 open back w/ G12M-25 - I love this cab. I didn't really like the stock MC-90 so I swapped a few speakers into it and settled on the G12M-25. Greenbacks have rock written all over them and the harmonic response makes solos scream.

FWIW - I think the MC90 is a good sounding speaker but it lacks the aggressive punch of a V30. It's great for clean/crunch/lead when you want a very clear and immediate sounding speaker, but it doesn't produce the percussive chug of a Vintage 30.

Mesa 1x12 front ported w/ G12M-25 - Again, wasn't a big fan of the stock MC-90. I don't like this cab as much as I like the open back version above but it's a good when they're paired together. The front port gives some extra bottom end to the 1x12 but it's a bit of an oddball sound since you're hearing two separate sources.

Mesa 1x12 3/4 back cab w/MC90 - This cab is sweet. At 27" wide it's the size of a 2x12 and produces a very full bottom end, lacking the choked off sound that most 1x12s I've used have. The 3/4 back retains some thump but still reflects off the wall to spread the sound around a little so you can hear what you're playing.

^ lots of good info there!

I'm gonna pick up another Carvin Cab tomorrow, it has their GT12 8 ohm speakers in it. Most people seem to like them a lot. I've never played through them, so it will be fun to try them out.

My cab preference depends on what I am doing. For live I like the Engl XXL cabs but for recording it's hard to go wrong with a over-sized recto.

I've used Marshall, VHT, Mesa, Engl Pro, and Splawn 412 cabs in high gain situations and while I really dig the Mesa v30, my VHT cab with p50e speakers sounds best to me. I get a dry, very immediate sound with great crunch in the mids and tight defined lows with good but not obnoxious highs.
I'm really anxious to try one of the new Fryette 212 fatbottom cabs with the Fane F70 speakers in it. It's supposed to be just a hair darker and have a better power handling ability than the p50e, which to me smells like a winner.

I'll admit the old Bogner V30 x'd with 75's is pretty hard to beat with most amps.

That said, I'm not really a fan of the V30, and the K100 is really the only Chinese speaker of thiers that I like.

So for me. High gain amps I like Swampthings, Governors, and K100's.

Mid gain/modded Marshally I like English 12-65's or Greenbacks, then all the Weber Pre-Rola doped stuff. Like to mix the Weber bass cones with the lead cones, and keep the magnets small.

Not cab snob, think the grill cloth matters as much as wood. Like the batting on the back like Bogner, and find cheapass poplar cabs sound pretty nice.

I just have 2 Marshall 1960B, a Scumback Marshall 1960B replica(my best one because is built with late 60"s specs) cabinets and a 2x 12 custom cabinet. The Scumback Marshall 1960B replica is loaded with 4 different Scumback speakers so I can have different options when I record.I'm using 2 BH75, 4 M75, 2 BM75, 4 H75, 1 S75PVC, 1 Scumnico and 1 Celestion cream back.

I use 4 SM57 on the cab with different scumback speakers, 1 for each speaker, a Royer 121 which I move depending which speaker gives me the right tone for the track I'm working on. I can select the mics through a patch bay and I can either use all or just 1. The reason I do this is so I don't have to re mic the cabinet if I want to use a different speaker. My favorite speaker are the BH75 and M75 which sound great together because the M75 gives me the midrange and the BH75 gives me the top end. I record all the speakers and blend them later or deice which one works best for a specific guitar tone.

if i can push them i like v30's, if lower volumes 75's all the way.
marshall straight 900 cabs.

marshall straight 900 cabs.

Both of these speakers sound a little fizzy at lower volumes to me
