What in the sea of effect pedals is your favorite Univibe pedal? I spent about 2 hours at a Guitar Center in San Francisco this week playing through a BE100 and every vibe they had on hand. I ended up getting a Deja Vibe. I nearly went with TC electronics Viscous Vibe, but the Deja just sounded that much warmer to my ears (probably in my head, but the Deja just sounded that much better).

For me personally my preferred Univibes would be the following (excluding the original Univibe):

1. Dunlop UV1 -chrome chassis (have had 2 of these die on me in the last year... spurred my hunt for a new one.)
2. Deja Vibe ( This may end up being my #1, it sounds much warmer than the uv1 to my ears)
3. Viscous Vibe ( If I needed a vibe with a focal point on volume boost, this has a DB boost in spades)
4. Voodoo Labs micro vibe ( just solid)

I have a Mini Dejavibe. It's nice to have the pedal to sweep your speed like the original UV.

It sounds like this.

I've had an original, the full tone, and now am using a lovepedal pickle vibe. To my ears the pickle vibe covers all the ground that I need it too, and has the warmer tone like the Deja Vibe has just don't have the option for continuous control.

I love the Fulltone MDV (I have the black one). It's the 3rd vibe I've owned, and a stayer on my board. It just has a more lush sound than the other two I had. Always kept in the chorus and modern modes. Love it.

I've owned most, some are better than others. Currently have a Sweetsound Ultra Vibe II which is great, but these two are my ultimate Vibes. The Unique-Vibe and his smaller Shiftee Vibe

Here are some of the vibes Ive owned and my opinions of each...

Deja Vibe MDV1 (black)...Excellent overall, but sometimes too subtle (even with the internal trimmer). I always wanted more from it. Very clear and quiet. Had the classic double pulse of a true vibe.

Vibronaut...Very flexible and lush. Small footprint. No vibrato mode. Very usable internal trimmers. Loved the effect, but was too noisy and hissy with lots of gain.

EQD Depths...Lots of unique tones and shapes. Extremely flexible. Liked it, but there was something a little off about the pulse. Overall very good quality pedal.

Source Audio Lunar...Its vibe mode was very nice. The internal editing tools made it super flexible. Quiet pedal. Really liked it, but side by side with real photocell vibes revealed its weaknesses. Not as lush or deep as other true vibe units.

Dawner Prince Viberator...Did not like this pedal one bit. Very flexible and a super high quality unit, but its pulse was very unnatural to me. Anything above halfway on the intensity, and the throb was just a "pop". Not smooth at all, like an abrupt square wave. Had to keep it lower to be passable. Constantly tweaking the controls, but was never satisfied. internal trimmers didnt help.

Wilson Haze...Cool vibe with the usual features of the more expensive units. Great sound too. One thing I noticed was when lowering the intensity, it seemed to lose a lot of high end. Got a little murky and thin.

Foxrox Aquavibe...By far my favorite vibe Ive owned! Larger than some of the others, but so is the sound. Very high quality, quiet pedal even under high gain. Super lush, but very very musical. I can dial it in to be barely there, like a layer of coolness or deep and throbby. But even on the highest intensity, its natural and usable. The center control lets me adjust the throb from smooth and centered, to offset and that classic double pulse. Great internal trimmers for output gain and brightness.

MJM Sixties Vibe is still my favorite since 1999, followed by some of the original ones I've had and an early Fulltone with the brushed aluminum case.

I missed out on a real one back in the 90s sitting in a music store, wish I had grabbed it. I have a Fulltone and I love it.

I've owned MANY high end vibe's over the years. My favorites are: 1) Mayer Voodoo Vibe 2) Foxrox Aquavibe 3) KR Megavibe. The Dano Chicken Salad is very cool as are the early JH4S Dunlop Rotovibe's.

I did not like the Pickle Vibe (too phasey and subtle) and any of the Fulltone offerings (not enough throb).

I'm currently using the vibe setting in my Mobius which sounds great once you have it dialed in...

After trying a bunch of different "Vibe" pedals over the years, I'm currently running a Neo Instruments Ventillator in the fx loop.
Produces the lushest, throbbing chorus-y wobble I've ever heard.
The original Uni-Vibe was intended to be a rotary speaker simulator, so you get the idea.
Korg G4 is not bad either, if you can find one.

I vote for the Drybell Vibe Machine as the best vibe if you need something small to fit on your board. It's the only legit circuit (but made with smd components) crammed into an MXR sized box.

Shen Ei Vibe Bro is best in my view, but $$$, if you can't find an original. Cornish level stuff on this one. Plug into this MF and you are like "whoa".

I collect vibes.

Dry Bell is wonderful, have 2 of those. Ultravibe 2 sounds great. Roger Mayer is good, as is the FoxRox. Another good one to check out that surprised me was the Jam Pedal RetroVibe (really nice).

Sweetsound Ultravibe for me! I have an original and a re-issue. Both excellent.

Love this clip from Analogman's website of an original.

Roger Mayer Voodoo Vibe....most gigs all I use is the Voodoo Vibe and a Cry Baby 535q.
