So fair people of RT, what is your preferred 6L6GC? Its that time of year where my speedtwin decides that its had enough of the tubes that are in, currently some harma EL34s - not great but they were spare and I ruined my old 6L6s when the power fucked up at a gig... Previously I've done well with EH 6L6s, probably not most peoples first choice but they sounded good to me and they are reasonably priced and they are probably better than the JJs. Whats says you?

EH tubes are the most brittle, cardboardy sounding pieces of shit in the world.

JJ 6L6's are literally, and consistently the best sounding tubes in most of my gear.

(However, JJ Quality has SUPPOSEDLY been shoddy lately, so who knows?)

Had a few bad experiences with JJ power tubes although I may give them another go if the talk is good again. Could just have been a bad batch I suppose. One failed on first power up and another went after about 5 hours, then when I had enough of them and pulled them one of the guide pins snapped off in the socket and it was a real pain to get back out!

SED Winged C Newer Production
Just ordered a pair of GE side getters from Mike of KCNOS Tubes. These are my favorite but pricey. I like them better than the RCA's. 200 bucks a pair though.

I have some SED 6l6's and they sound real generic..The JJs are better and Im not a JJ fan by any means..
I was real disappointed by the SED

Seds unless they are going in my boogie, then i just get boogie tubes. A certain rating of Groove Tubes are the same as the Mesa 420 or whatever, i dont remember which rating, but those are probably pretty good as well. Seds definitely win if the amp can be biased, those tubes sound amazing.

I'm usually not a big fan of JJ's either but they sound amazing in my Mark IV.

The SED I am refferring to are the Svetlana Winged C St Petersburg. The New Senser SED's I do not like. JJ's are better than those.

New Sensor carries Svetlana not SED winged C. They are different tubes.
