I'm looking for a medium to high gain head, preferably under 20 watts, in the classic Marshall high gain flavor/similar with a good loop. Takes a boost well to tighten it up, and for leads. Cleans and dirty, mostly 80's metal, and some drop-D. Priest, Maiden, Mercyful Fate kinda tone. The Bassbreaker 15 sounds pretty damn good, and I'm looking hard at it.

The Blackstar HT20 is on the list, but I find them a bit stale/lifeless.

EVH LBX is on the list, but the first LBX I owned, didn't really do well in lower volumes, I found the master quite touchy! Haven't tried a II.

Orange OR15?

What am I missing looking at?? Something used under $500.

i think they sound really good. I have been looking a British style practice amp.

I played one last weekend the high gain is the best I have heard in a fender. the cleans are not typical fender and can be hard to get a great BF clean. the reverb is very weak on these. It is useable but may require tweaking on the clean channel.

Marshall is about to release a new line of DSL's. I'd wait and see what those are like.
