Good mix? I don't hear much talk about using GB's with Fender amps, but it seems like they would work well together, no?

The traditional Fender sound is with Jensens, so I think a lot of folks stick with what's worked since the 50's, but there ain't no reason they can't sound good with BG, or alnicos like the blue. One of the best deluxes I've heard had Weber blue dogs.

Never tried Greenbacks with my fenders, but the Anni Celestion G12H30's in my Vox opened back 212 cab sound great with my Fender Brown super and Fender Bandmaster reverb. Gives the Fenders more of a British flavor.

sounds good, I prefer it sounding more british

ive done some recording with a 65 Bassman thru a mid 80s 4X12 Marshall with GT75s in it...sounded quite tasty!! wasnt the signature "Fender" tone but was quite rocking!!!

Thanks for the responses. I am wondering because I'd like to finally set up the rig I've been contemplating for some time. It would be a two amp rig with my Vintage Modern and a Deluxe Reverb (prob an RI unless I stumble upon $2,500 for an original BF). I want to use my VM cab (greenbacks) and want to make sure I'm not hindering the tone of the Deluxe Reverb. I already know the VM sounds great with greenies, and I'm sure the Deluxe Reverb will too, but I was just looking to see if anybody had any experience with this particular combo.

If I am playing harder rock, the closed back cab is my preference. I just find the opened back cab with a Fender really lets those Fender cleans come out....

I was pretty impressed with the DRRI when I checked it out. No, it doesn't have the mojo of a vintage amp, but I still thought it sounded really nice.

I used to have a DRRI. For around $500 used it is a nice amp. Responded really well to tube updates. I would have removed C10 (bright cap) on the vibrato channel if I still had it. After a sold my DRRI, I had a chance to play a '67 BF DR and thought it blew the reissue away. Much less brittle sounding, fuller. My general thought is that if you can get a used DRRI for around $500, if you are going to go for a new DRRI, then might as well get a SF.
