Holy crap it is loud!!! Seriously, the amp's volume is on on 1 and it is killing me (in a good way). I was a bit surprised how little gain this amp has. It is a little bit of a shock since the Mesa Mark series amps have so much preamp gain. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a bad thing. Just different. I have been communicating with Mike Fortin and my amp will be heading to his shop to get the Cali mod and tube buffered FX loop. I know that his mods adjust the volume taper but having that loop will help too. Looking forward to this bad boy coming back as a fire breather!!

The Mark IIC+ will most likely be on the selling block within the next couple of weeks. Fantastic amp but looking for a change...that's all!

Mike is great guy and has been a pleasure to talk to and work with thus far!

You know there will be tons of clips coming your way!

I bought my JCM800 with the idea of getting it moded...but decided to keep it stock! It's so percussive and cleans up very well with the guitars volume know...not to mention that it sounds amazing with a boost.

Oh yeah...it's loud as balls too!!!!!

congrats man, can't wait to hear your clips with this beast after Mike gets thru with it.

I'm really enjoying my '77 JMP. I also bought it with the intention of getting it moded but it seems like i wanted to keep it stock. Who knows i might just get a reissue and have it moded. i'm contented in boosting my JMP right now.

Chad, congrats on the JCM and can't wait for the clips. Is that an original or reissue?

I can't wait either! It is an original Marshall JCM800 1987 50 watt head from the mid 80s. Looks just like this but in much better condition (almost looks mint with the exception of normal wear and tear:

A stock JCM800 is really hard to play at home with the volume issue. I remember using one live in a decent sized club and even when i had the volume a hair under 2, i still had to face my cabinet backwards pointing at the wall away from the crowd.

With the Cali mod, you can still get the stock feel and sound whenever you want, but with the mod you can get it screaming at 2 in the morning without waking anyone up.

Yes sir!
That very amp is sitting on my Cab right now!
Same amp....1987 JCM 800 50 watter.
This amp can do it all....blues to metal.
Has a GREAT stock Marshall sound too for that killa AC/DC tone!
Its been my Go to for the past couple months since I have owned it.
My second amp is a ENGL Fireball 100.
It sounds good too.....but I love that FJA modded JCM 800!

Oh its ALLLLL MARSHALL!!
Some of the mods I hear sound good but from clips its so hard to tell sometimes.
This one gets in all territories and still sounds GOOD at all settings.
Not a one trick pony by far. ;)

You are going to love the mod when you get it back. Good choice getting Mike Fortin's loop  The loop is really transparent.

That's a JCM800 1959 circuit. Basically like the old Non-master volume Super Leads. If that's what you got, no wonder you're going deaf and don't have alot of gain! LOL! :D
