Holy crap it is loud!!! Seriously, the amp's volume is on on 1 and it is killing me (in a good way). I was a bit surprised how little gain this amp has. It is a little bit of a shock since the Mesa Mark series amps have so much preamp gain. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a bad thing. Just different. I have been communicating with Mike Fortin and my amp will be heading to his shop to get the Cali mod and tube buffered FX loop. I know that his mods adjust the volume taper but having that loop will help too. Looking forward to this bad boy coming back as a fire breather!!

The Mark IIC+ will most likely be on the selling block within the next couple of weeks. Fantastic amp but looking for a change...that's all!

Mike is great guy and has been a pleasure to talk to and work with thus far!

You know there will be tons of clips coming your way!

You are going to love the mod when you get it back. Good choice getting Mike Fortin's loop  The loop is really transparent.

Looking forward to it. Seriously, I am pretty geeked by it. I have wanted more crunch to my rhythm tones. The loop is super important to me. That was 90% of the reason I sold the Splawn Quick Rod. It will be a month or two but well worth the wait. A lot of you guys here at Rig-Talk I trust. That goes a long ways.

That's a JCM800 1959 circuit. Basically like the old Non-master volume Super Leads. If that's what you got, no wonder you're going deaf and don't have alot of gain! LOL! :D

Seriously, it is so freaking loud. I was a bit shocked. I thought to myself how does anyone crank these bad boys up to get that natural power tube gain and compression. It is only 50 watts and quite a bit louder than my Mesas. The volume taper with the Cali mod should help a ton.

Oh yeah I know... I have a '71 Super Lead. It's absurd! LOL! :D

Glad you got the Marshall, but don't sell the Mark IIC+. Soon I will be the only mark series owner left on Rig Talk :scared: :D

What is the Cali mod?
It's a cool way to spend hundreds of dollars altering a Marshall to sound like a Marshall with a $100 pedal in front of it. :D ;)

Another alternative If you don't want to mod your Marshall is the Soldano HotMod. It Sounds amazing in my original JCM 800 and only cost $125. And theres no modding the amp. Its a tube that goes in the 2nd tube slot.

What I like about it is it doesn't change the sound of the amp.

Congrats... Maybe give it more time before modding it.

I'll still have the baseline Marshall tone but giving it some features I want: tube buffered FX loop, MV, some additional saturation. Theamp I bought does not have the master volume. In order to get any gain the volume has to be dimed (the volume knob is the gain for the amp). At 1 it was blistering. I am not just jumping in to this. I have been doing my research on this amp mod for months (I have been communicating with Ralph, Kage, Dan and Scott for quite a while). I am confident this amp mod will give me what I want. Looking forward to it!!

The Cali mod is $500 and the tube buffered FX loop is $350.

Congrats Chad, I am very excited to hear your thoughts having Mike gets through with his work
