She's more of an acoustic chick, so I think my Herbert is safe, :-). Thanks brother, it's my pleasure!!

And now, the wait begins....

My Herbert was sent via Canadian Post. So not sure how long a package from Ontario to Chicago takes, but I am impatiently waiting to get it!

Haha. Ohhhh man. I know exactly how you feel. Excited for you to bask in the glory. I'll patiently await your review on the Herbie!!

Supposedly my Herbert is scheduled for delivery today.... Should feel like Christmas day when I get home.

Yeah dude! How does she sound?! I saw you got it in a different post!

I haven't made a proper review thread yet because I've still been wrapping my head around the whole thing lol. I'm so overwhelmed, and I DEFINITELY wasn't going to make one this weekend, I was just lost in tone all weekend haha.

Major problem: so far it is in my apartment and I can't move it to the rehearsal space until next month. I can't turn this thing over 1 or I'm pretty sure it'll level my entire 3 flat. So I haven't TRULY heard this amp yet.

What I have heard of it so far: O....M...G.... I will need a few weeks to recover from my full body orgasm, I feel it may have left me a cripple. I have never heard a better distortion or clean tone.

Channel 1 has a really sparkly, clear tone. Very chiming. I'll be using this a lot. It plays really well with my reverb also, which I love.

Channel 2 is it. This is what I've been searching for. The closest I have been able to get is my Fender Bassman 10 w/ Boss Metal Zone pedal with Whizzer mod's "Diezel mod". The mod Whizzer did on that pedal gets surprisingly good results. It even has a -/+ switch. That pedal though (expectantly) is very 2 dimensional though compared to the real deal. Playing through this amp, I realize this is the tone I've been questing for and I'm addicted to playing the guitar now, can't get enough of that sound. The sound is very three dimensional, and I can hear each and every string no matter the chord I play (which has been an issue in the past- sometimes certain notes get lost in my chords as I use my pinky to play octave chords a lot). What I've achieved with my Herbert is a very three-dimensional, layered, aggressive sound, full of chime and sustain. The bottom end sounds great, but suffers from my room constraints at the moment and I've yet to really hear how tight the bottom is.

I haven't used Channel 3 too much yet. I've only had time to work through 1 & 2. I have some songs that are more aggressive and metally/doom and I can definitely see utilizing that channel for this (I am thinking my Fernandes Vertigo will love this channel, especially with its Sustainer pickup* - and yeah, I will post pics of the Vertigo later, I haven't forgotten!)

All in all I really like the way this amp handles all my instruments also. I can go from my Schecter (Seymour Duncan JB/Jazz combo pickups) to my Burny (same pickups as Schecter), to the Vertigo (Sustainer and stock pickup) to [and this one floors me] my Strat (Lace Drop 'N Gain in the neck, Lace Red in the middle) and it will handle them all and pull out the guitar's true potential.

Simply amazing, that is all I can say. I am definitely very, very, VERY pleased with this purchase. And so far I am loving the V30s in the cab. It is hard to gauge though because I haven't heard the K100s. So far I am not seeing a reason to switch though, or even X pattern.

LOVE this thing! Once I get set up in the rehearsal space I will post some sound samples. :D Right now I just need a footswitch and I will be all set to go. Also: One of my favorite pedals, and part of my sound, is my Boss DC-2. I am losing A LOT of definition out of this thing though. It doesn't seem to color the sound as much as it used to. I am not sure if it's because the amp isn't loud enough (that seems unlikely) or if I am utilizing the loop wrong (seems unlikely as well, as my other pedals seem to be affecting the signal the same).... I don't know. I saw the section in the user manual about loss of dynamic range in the effects loops, so I will read up on it.

Well I'm officially even more stoked after reading your review! Okay as far as your clean channel, I'm assuming you're running your reverb in the loop. Are you going into the serial loop? Is it pretty transparent?

Dude, it's crazy how a good sounding amp will make you want to play more. After I sold my 6505+ I cut down my playing so much cause' my temp setup sounded like shit compared to the peavey. It can get depressing at times cause' you want to rock the fuck out, but when you start playing you're like "fuck, this sucks" I'm glad the Herbert is going to make me want to play more! Man I'm so stoked for you dude. Had you ever played a Diezel before, or was this a blind purchase? I did the blind thing, but from everything I've heard I really don't think I'm going to be disappointed! Yeah that room you have the amp set up in must suck. There's no carpet so that sound has got to be bouncing off the walls. I have mine in a carpeted room, plus I have about $300 worth of foam up no the walls, it should sound pretty clean. Hope you get to crank her in a better acoustic environment soon! At least you have some good natural reverb, haha.

My first electric was a Revolver Pro and I had no idea how to work the sustainer until right before I sold it. I was 14 when I got it and I was brand new to electric guitar. That is one of my biggest regrets in my life is selling that guitar. The biggest reason was the floyd rose...haha as a kid working on my own guitars that was the most frustrating thing ever. I had no idea what I was doing. Now I'm 27 and I love floyds!

Nice review dude. I'm pretty stoked to hear about channel 3 as well. Again because of this I want to go home even sooner and rock this thing out. Don't ever invite me to your house cause' I will knock your ass out and steal that white cab. Dude I'm really jealous, that thing is nice!!!! I'm a white whore. I was debating on getting a white headshell for my Herbert, but it was going to cost over $400, and $300 of that was just for shipping, haha. Have fun man! Keep it metal!

Oh yeah and the infamous foot switch dilemma. I'm right there with you dude. I still have no idea what I'm going to do. I'm really liking that Wilder foot switch, however, I may go to a full midi setup with a G Major 2 in which case I'd need to buy the chip for the Herbert so I can use the instant access switches on the midi foot switch. Decisions decisions!!

Great review.

Glad you're so stoked. Diezel's kick ass. Period.

Yeah, how'd you know??? And in case you say username, no, actually has nothing to do with that band. It's the name I gave to my first guitar when I was 13 (the strat), probably around the time that band was starting up in Boston.

ISIS is one of my favorite bands ever though. Oceanic and Panopticon are masterpieces.
