Finally happy with my pedals setup! What have you settled on

I really thought I had bought everything I truly wanted and was just left with trying some various things just for the heck of it and then I came across some Free The Tone pedals and was instantly hooked. Delay, Modulated Delay, Chorus, Reverb are all absolutely splendid pedals and made incredibly well. I was very impressed. They make drive pedals but I prefer amps for that. If you haven't checked these pedals out, they are worth a look. Studio quality stuff for sure. My wallet just got a bit lighter, but this is it! I am done, seriously. It's finally over - until the next cool thing crosses my path...lol. We are all a pathetic bunch aren't we? :)

beautiful board.. I'm thinking top mounted power supplies make more sense now that I have seen the spaghetti mess that is on the underside of mine.

I prefer to have all visible and easy to reach. I want to rewire the power cables, because isn't easy to find proper dc cable and plugs.

Boss dd-3 -> qe-7 (Cutting only 1 frequency).

thats it. pedals are a money pit

i have a cheap peavey cmc chorus, and an old 70's vox wah that i toy around with here and there, but mo-pedals, mo-problems. i've always been a fan of a pretty dry guitar sound with 360ms of delay only when i'm playing leads.

Interesting, never thought of cutting frequencies on a delay in the loop..

I think Im done with the pedal chase for now-mine consist of going into a Jerry Cantrell wah-Ibanez Tube Screamer- first version OCD-old Phase 90. Then use some delay into loop like a SDE3000 or Midiverb ll. Its a time wasting money pit that has haunted me for years but I think Im finally done.

I went nuts with pedals a while back, but found I only really used an old Dunlop Wah and an overdrive pedal (SD-1 with the 2204 and a RAT with an AC30).

For bass I still use a ton of pedals though
Bass Wah-> Qtron-> OC-2-> B7K-> OG Green Muff-> CE-2-> Cali76 TX

I bought a fractal FX8 a few years ago and never looked back . Added a volume and a wah (both of which plug into the fractal ) and I'm done

I own a bunch of ‘80s Boss pedals, Area 51 wah pedals, and a couple of newer MXR pedals. I like analog effects pedals, but have a desire for the pedals to be integrated together with my amp rig via MIDI. I was using the Zoom G9.2tt floor processor for a number of years, became frustrated with the ground loop issues, and purchased the Fractal Audio FX-8 about 2 years ago. The processing power, number of effects, programmability, relays/MIDI/, expression pedals (wah, volume, whammy) has ended my need for pedals.

Love the DE-7. Great delay. Have my chorus in the loop tho. You should add a TC Spark at the end of your chain. Just makes everything sound better, bigger, clearer. Maybe add an EQ in the loop before delay.

I have used a DE-7 since they came out, I will never get rid of it. I love the Echo mode.

Yeah, I almost spit out my water when I read this. LOL! I was like "yeah, right..... :scared: ". LOL

We are all pathetic and completely out of control. I remember years ago I was like "Oh yeah, I have a Fractal now and sold all of my tube amps and pedals, etc.". Here I am years later, with a JJ Jr. tube amp and more Keeley pedals than I even need. I have three with delays...LOL

My thread isn't even cold yet and I already am thinking of swapping out that Chorus pedal for something else and maybe adding the GE-7 back on the board... if you really want to have some fun, line up every single pedal you have and add up how much cash you have spent on all of them. Now that's a good time!

Chorus...for me it's never ending for a pedal I don't even use all that much. I currently own the CE-2W, Neunaber Inspire and Keeley Dyno. They all sound great but each have their limitations. The Inspire is pure chorus bliss...except it's got a slight volume drop. The CE-2W, almost perfect, if it had a level control it'd be hands down my favorite. Keeley Dyno, it's on the board right now in chorus mode. Was my Roto sound but got booted for the Neo Mini Vent. And I gotta say that Roto sound can hang with my Neo Mini Vent for just a pure straight off/on Roto sound. There's a couple more chorus pedals I want to try...the Calisto and maybe the CMAT Mods Analog Chorus but I'm hanging to what I have.

I Have a poor man's CE-2.., it's the CE-2B and has a level control! I was thinking maybe I could do a fromel or other mod to it to make it even better but not sure. What I am after is that classic CE-2 chorus but I want the option of a cheap rotary or vibe effect as well. Nothing that is gonna match the real deal but something that does the trick for the odd time I want it. There used to be some good cheap pedals out there that did this but sadly, they are all up in price for some strange reason. Like a plastic casing and components somehow make them the holy grail...

Nice boards!

I'm actually a minimalist when it comes to effects so it's funny that I built a monster board. I always loved the idea of a huge board or a small rack with a switcher and pedals mounted on sliding shelves.
Took 10 years but I finally did it and while it's fun, I still prefer to play through only a few pedals. This is a great creativity/writing tool though!

It hasn't changed too much since I finally got it put together a couple years ago. I've since acquired an old RAT reissue, Timmy v.2, Kingsley Jester Custom, and a POD Go so I'm thinking a second, much smaller board will be built eventually.

Or I might sell a few things and downsize. Either way, it's fun and while the pedal chase eventually slows down, it never ends.

I've got news for ya... you're no minimalist.

Hmm...maybe the Providence Anadime? Ain't cheap.

Keeley Dyno My Roto - I love the roto sound.

And I'm back to the Neunaber Inspire for straight chorus. It's in the loop so I boosted a smidge to cover for the slight volume drop.

This thing sounds amazing.

oups, wrote it backwords. the ge is first then the delay. i cut the 400 hz pretty good... clears up the gain on my mark IV combo.

I used to have a big board. After estimating the value, a legit modeler was not far off. Yet the modeler would have been cheaper in the long run. I don't even have fancy gear. It just adds up so fast. I do a purge and then slowly collect again.

Right now most of my tone is a clean amp and distortion pedal. Went through a few distortions this year to find what works. The Digitech is good enough to cover almost all my effects. It took the place of a dozen pedals.

Guitar>Korg DT-10>Digitech RP1000 (4CM)> Biyang Metal End>amp.
Ibanez FL99 in RP's loop.

I'm interested in a Ethos Overdrive w/HRM EQ. Pricey, but may be worth it. Then there's the Van Weelden Royal Overdrive. So many to choose from.

I had an Ethos HRM. Thought it was decent for some things, but nothing amazing overall. Still sounded very pedal like to me if that makes sense. None of the Dumble style pedals I’ve owned impressed me much (had the mad Professor simble, Shin’s Music Dumbloid, several Jetter’s and Vertex’s), but I’d say the Dumbloid was definitely the best of the bunch. Maybe I’ve beem spoiled by my few keeper pedals. Actually I just got a T Jauernig Smoothly (his take on Dumble/Zen Drive) that’s even better than I remember the Dumbloid being (or at least as good) and I paid under $100 for it, but still not keeping it. Jauernig makes some great stuff though and much more affordable than other pedals anywhere as good. Honestly though very few pedals impress me much these days

I’ve played a real Dumble as well as countless clones (Fuchs, Bludotone, Smartbelle, and many Two Rocks). None of the clones were anywhere near as good (Bludotone thought was closest) and none of the pedals where anywhere near as good as the clones. Just imo and 2 cents

I cringe at the thought of doing such a thing. I think it would literally make me sick. :aww:

I´ve never had much in the way of pedals, I´ve always chased amps and rack gear instead, but I seem to have settled on a few that I enjoy. I´ve had a Visual Sound route 66 covering the basic TS and Dynacomp stuff for about fifteen years, and I´ve also used a Voodoo Microvibe and a TC Booster+ for maybe five years.
