As of today, I'm a happy owner of a Herbert. What a beast of an amp. The serial nr. Is 001/104. Peter, would you be so kind and tell me the year of production?

Ok, thanks. Perhaps time for a power tube change then, as the previous has not changed anything. There are currently TAD EL34 B-STR in there. Did you ever ship amps with these tubes? What brand of EL34 do you currently recommend?

you already know what im gonna say....

We at Diezel Ampflification highly recommend the new EL34-BG tube that creates, in our opinion, the most musical tone with all of our amp models. Nice bottom end, right in your face mids and beautiful harmonics in the upper register. We feel that this tube type is a winner.

If you don't know how old the preamp tubes are I would recommend the hand selected Diezel preamp tube set. Those work very well with the BGs.

Best regards,

Jens Kruse

Hi Jens,

Thanks for the info. I don't know how old the tubes are, hence my question whether Diezel has shipped amps with TAD tubes at all.

The preamp tubes are from TAD as well. In a worst case scenario, they are 7 to 8 years old. Preamp tubes last longer than power tubes. Do you recommend to change them as well?

On top of this, I need a new LED as well.

I live in Europe (the Netherlands). There is no info on the (German) website on the Diezel tube sets and parts. Links to retailers, yes. Where can I get the parts (suggested tubes and LED) in Europe or should I order them via you?

EDIT: I just read in a previous thread in German that you can also order directly from Diezel Germany (which makes more sense for me over here). Is this correct?

Yes, of course you can order the tubes and all other spare parts directly in Germany from Diezel.

Diezel has shipped amps with TAD tubes, but mostly when the Rubies were temporarily in short supply. The TADs good tubes, but we like the Rubies better.

If your preamp tubes are of unknown age I would replace them. When you buy a used amp and the previous owner did not do a full re-tube recently, you should re-tube yourself and start fresh.
Preamp tubes are recommended to be changed every 2 years with regular amp use.

Laurens,

Thanks all for the quick replies!

That is the best way to do it. I will send you an email for the fee quote and procedure etc.
