Actually, it has been finished for a week or so. Honestly, the most difficult part of the build was waiting for parts, and trouble shooting. I had a couple really good head scratching moments. None of the problems I experienced, however, were huge mistakes. All it took was for a Metro forum genius to look at my pics and say "Ya forgot a connection here" and whatnot.
Anyone who can solder well can build an amp like this. I should mention that I had never previously built an amp. I have soldered guitar pickups, etc. In a way, the amp is easier since you have more room to work with. I made sure that I gathered all the necessary tools beforehand. I did order spare parts many times throughout the build though. If I screwed up a solder joint, or cut a component lead too short, I ordered another.
How does she sound?? I cranked it to 10 yesterday...Good fuckin' lord does it sound godly!! I have it set up to 1971 specs. Basically 1987x specs and man...Sounds amazing. Just pure balls...A huge wall of crunch if you will. The only thing I did differently was use a different value bright cap so it's not so bright down low.
Pics and clips to come when I can figure out a good sweet spot with the mic.
