Honestly I do prefer simpler amps. I think they tend to sound better

Agree though, if i can get a Ceriatone and is even remotely close, id rather pay for that.

Say this Jose and the 1959 Modified are roughly the same price. Which one is likely to be better quality in terms of components and assembly?

Even not taking the assembly quality into account, I’d be getting the Friedman, even though I do agree with a lot of the sentiments here about a straight Marshall versus Friedman in general.
Of course, in reality reality I’m not getting either because fuck paying that much for an amp.

No probs with Nielsen. Seems like a chill dude with some good stories. Amp is not my thing, but I think it sounds good not great. Would have to hear it in the room. Plus if it has the Vai mods, it’s probably killer. That Vai one was amazing

Sounded good and liked the tune he made. Fun drop d flat riffs. I feel that what we hear in the video is more related to a good mix rather than the amp itself which is probably not bad (it's Friedman after all) but the overall sound seems a bit "overproduced" for lack of better words.

Listened again, and I think it actually does sound very good overall. I like that it has a rawer, more organic and less filtered sounding presentation by comparison to most other Friedman models. He may want to consider letting a touch more of these characteristics find their way into other high-gain amps he designs. Also, the drop D section at the conclusion of the video sounds really killer to my ears: Not that modern "brutal" tone...But definitely crushing in it's own way.

I could easily blow so much money on amps. I do think this amp sounds really good. I also keep drifting back to the Metroplex-II clips out there, trying to justify that 'investment.' But I gotta' say, I've got a '72 50-watt metal panel NMV Marshall that is my favorite amp. Almost Fender-ish warm cleans and takes 'Amp-In-A-Box' pedals like a champ. The difference in tone and feel between my Suhr Eclipse, Pinnacle Deluxe, BE-OD Deluxe and JEL-IR pedal is significant - but they all sound and feel incredible through this old box of glass with a straight front 4x12. Get a killer tube amp and drop a line-up of AIB pedals in front if it and it will help cool the desire to buy every new amp that comes along.

I don't think I'd call this a one trick pony amp as some have. Sure, it's just one channel, but there's a lot of interesting options. Just based on the video, I would probably spend most of my time with the Vintage presence. Hard to know for sure because it's youtube, but I thought that sounded best.

I'll add that Nielsen did comment that he thought the BE100 had a little more gain than the Jose. Interesting to note.

Sounds like a nice "best off" of the classic old Jose mods, very cool that we get to have such amps available those days IMHO.

Yeah, that sounds fine and it´s probably a great amp IRL, but nothing there so far to move me off my 3 Monkeys Zé.

The last clipping option sounds like that 2000s interpretation of the José that every modder on the forums used to do a variation of, were the real ones really ever that "modern" high gain back in the day?
