First look; MGL Modern/Vintage

@MGL AmpWorks was kind enough to let me borrow this beautiful 50 watt Modern/Vintage

As we all know, purple amps result in at least 20% more tone per big bottle of displacement.

I've only messed around with the vintage mode so far, and it sounds like instant classic heavy metal. It keeps the "kerrang" while being voiced a little more balanced and pleasing EQ wise than most vintage Marshalls with everything at noon.

I'm really excited to mess around with this amp and believe me, there are clips coming. I'm already cooking something up.

I'm really stoked to be able to try this out, as there is no one within hundreds of miles of me with an MGL. If there's any speaker combination, common mic, or pedal combination you want to hear, or any specific style of tone you want to hear, make sure and let me know ASAP - I will do my best to accommodate you while I have this amp in my hands!

Oh there's gonna be all that, for sure, once I start dinking around with the modern mode

But ill be sure to have some spicy intervals, boosted and non-boosted, and shred runs in there when I get 'round to it.

I can 100% do a piece of that, I'm not gonna cover the whole song though. Do you want to hear drop d stepdad riffing? Or weird intervals and harmonics like the intro riff?

I can play the whole song lmao, it's a good indicator of the harmonics and a full sounding riff

Yeah man that's no problem. When I do the "modern" mode track I'll be sure to include something like that.

Definitely how it responds to volume rolloff. Also curious about how it sounds as you push the Master. Variety of pickups is always a nice bonus. Bolt on neck, set neck.

I can definitely add some volume rolloff into my vintage mode demo. I am not a fan of bolt on neck guitars, but i'll see what I can do

Mic'ing requests: ORTF stereo pair placed wherever you think it sounds best in the room.

Other ideas:
- Record a direct out of the MGL from a Powerstation or similar gadget, and post here. Then other members can reamp through their cabs and mics and we can cover more combinations. I'll send it through my EVM12S and Force 12 setups with the PZM stereo wedge and also a 57, for example. It'll also help members hear how the amp would sound through their own rigs.
- Record a DI from the guitar and note the signal level, then members can record whatever other amp + cab + mic they have and get a direct comparison to your clips.
- Solicit guitar DI tracks from members you'd like to hear play through the amp, and record those being pumped through it.

Probably not going to do a direct out or room recordings, but I can 100% do some EV12L action. The problem with trading D.I.s and soliciting DIs is that I'm borrowing the amp - I wont have it long enough to ask for submissions or whatever, wait for them, and then do the reamping for a bunch of them. That's too much unpaid work for me homes.

Yeah, that suggestion I figured would be the most labor intensive. Makes sense to leave it out.

That one I figured would be as simple as sticking a box been the amp and speaker and running an extra track in the DAW, but maybe I underestimate it. Appreciate the unpaid time you're spending doing the demos already, at any rate.

Oh i'm already working on it man, there will be two tracks made, at the least

Then I'm going to comb through and try to do a bunch of requests from this thread. Right now I'm working on kind of a deep purple/def leppard/classic metal type thing for the vintage mode - I just finished doing the rhythm guitars, and I'm chewing on solo ideas right now.

Then I'm changing gears into the modern mode - I will try and do something that covers giving it the beans
