Yes, super cool tolex! Wanted something new that we hadn’t used before. It’s called British Garnet it’s got a little bit of black on the top of each dimple and that makes it unique. In low indoor lighting, it looks blood red. That with all of the black is badass.
OK .... I have heard of the British Garnet stuff I remember the purple being pretty cool too ...... but I didn't know the red could get that blood red look !! Insanely Cool !!
The descriptions on the website are very detailed. The 100w is the same basic circuit as Jimmy’s original amp that we still offer. The new amps have a more modern version of our Hi-Gain voicing that’s more aggressive with more gain but still very Marshall voiced. And the amps also have our Vintage Dirty voicing to get classic ‘70’s to early ‘80’s tones. Hence the name, Modern/Vintage. The circuit is a mix of real NOS mustard caps and SoZo caps. The SoZo caps have a more modern tone with more gain and less mids than original mustard caps. Also a little more compressed and have a more greasy fluid feel. The original still has plenty of gain, but yes it’s more classic sounding. Mallory doesn’t make resistors, but they do make tone caps. We don’t use Mallory caps in these amps.
