Fitting jack in/out to a NEW Pedaltrain Jr (no mounting plat

Hey, I've found the various guides for adding in/out and FX send/return jacks to a pedaltrain board, either using Neutrik (soldered) or RedCo (solderless) options.

I have the new 2015 Pedaltrain Jr, which no longer has a plate on the front, for drilling. Instead, they all have an open gap, like this

I am not sure I fancy having to solder specific cables to the jacks, which rules out Neutrik.

Redco do a popular solderless (female/female) option, but not in the UK.

- Any idea for mounting jacks on my new Pedaltrain Jr? I am thinking of going to our local metalsmiths and asking him to make and fit a metal plate, with the holes drilled.

- Should I order Redco connectors from the USA, or order Neutrik locally (England) and do the soldering instead?

Some people mentioned ground hum being a potential issue with the Redco.. not sure why this should be an issue?

Thanks!

I've been looking into these and wondering the exact same thing...

Ok, I've been brainstorming with a sound engineer I know. Think I'm going to remove the power supply/bracket, then fit a piece of Perspex across the whole end bracket (on the inside) with holes pre-drilled and jacks fitted, then screw the power supply back on (through the plastic and metal, using longer screws).

The Perspex will run the whole way to the top, to allow for strength when holes for power and jacks are drilled.

Of course, you can choose between transparent or other colours.

And Perspex could reduce ground issues?

What do you think of this plan?

The old version of the board is better for adding the jacks because of the front plate. It's so much cleaner and takes up less space when doing it this way. It's probably not an option but I would recommend getting the older version board. I just finished mine a few weeks ago. It has been working flawlessly with absolutely no hum or ground problems.

I considered getting an older one, but I like a challenge and don't want to be stuck depending on finding older pedaltrains if I increase size.

Besides, we need a pioneer who will march forth and achieve victory in changing circumstances!

That's odd. I wonder what the point of designing it like that was. Maybe contact them and ask them what they recommend.

If you have the real estate, this is what I did, put all the shit in a plastic box I got on ebay and put the AC jack and the XLR jack on the box.

take tin snips to a piece of sheet metal, cut to the size you want, rivet in place. Should be able to acquire everything needed at Home Depot or Lowe's

By the way, how did you add that glow to your pedalboard?
I used a 3' strip of self-adhesive LED's I purchased off of ebay. It was very cheap and runs off a 9v power tap from the pedal power. I cut the LED's connector off and spliced/soldered it to a Pedal Power 9v cable. I used the red connector to set it apart from the connectors that power the pedals. If you look at the pic of the bottom of the board, you will see the red connector plugged into the pedal power all the way to the right.

Also, something to consider. I used a piece of plexi-glass as the top of the board. It gives you more surface area to attach the pedals and a cool glow emits from the entire edge of the plexi-glass from the LED's.

Loop Master Patch Bays are what I use, it's an MXR sized pedal, essentially 4 female 1/4 jacks to another 4 female 1/4 jacks that I put on top of my power supply so everything is coming out of one place on my board

Edit: I'm not at home to get a pic of my board right now, but here's the most recent picture while I was obviously in the process of changing around some stuff and my very clean and professionally wired board... Point in on the top left the silver box is the patch bay, guitar goes in, through my board and back out, then the other two is the FX loop
